In 1 Corinthians 16:15, the Apostle Paul praises the household of Stephanas for having "addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints." In this article, I make the case for why the Reina Valera Gómez (RVG) — "se han hecho adictos al ministerio de los santos" — is the most precise Spanish translation of this verse, and why the RV1960's long-standing «se han dedicado» leaves some of Paul's meaning on the table.

Drawing from the Greek verb τάσσω, the Latin addictus, and four centuries of Spanish Bible history, I show that "adictos" recovers the full legal-devotional force Paul intended — the same nuance the KJV translators captured in 1611 — restoring a precision the Spanish tradition had softened for 400 years. The result is a richer, more powerful text for preaching and a clearer call to wholehearted service for God's people today.
