đź‘‘ Built for the Bible. Backed by Educational Science.
Something new is launching August 10 at Northport Church of Christ: Kingdom Kids.
As a school administrator and Doctor of Education, I’ve spent years studying how children learn—and now I’m combining that training with my passion for God’s Word to create a Bible school that’s both spiritually rich and instructionally sound.
For years, I—and many others—have noticed how Bible school curriculums tend to be either scripturally sound or engaging for kids, but rarely both. The creation of Kingdom Kids seeks to fill that gap.
Kingdom Kids is a Bible school program for children from birth through 5th grade that’s built on a strong foundation:
đź“– Biblical truth and
🧠Research-based best practices in education.
On Sundays, children will explore Bible stories from Genesis to Revelation over a two-year cycle, learning the big picture of God’s plan.
On Wednesdays, the focus shifts to spiritual formation through character-building lessons, teaching kids how to live out 52 traits of a Jesus follower—one for each week of the year.
Each session begins in The King’s Court, where a large-group Bible story is presented. Then, students (age 4 and up) choose a room based on how they learn best—through one of eight learning styles drawn from Dr. Howard Gardner’s research on Multiple Intelligences:
• 🗣 Verbal-Linguistic – reading, writing, speaking
• 🎨 Visual-Spatial – drawing, art, pictures
• 🤸 Bodily-Kinesthetic – movement, hands-on learning
• 🎶 Singing & Sound – a ca****la singing, melody, and memory verse songs
• 🧠Logical-Mathematical – puzzles, sequencing, problem-solving
• 🌿 Naturalistic – nature, creation, and observation
• 🧍 Intrapersonal – prayer, reflection, journaling
• 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Interpersonal – teamwork, role-play, sharing
I’m currently writing the full curriculum and designing the program to be something that not only serves our congregation well, but can also be shared with others looking to build meaningful and effective Bible school programs.
If you’re local and have children birth through 5th grade, I hope they’ll be a part of it.
đź’™ Kingdom Kids begins August 10 at Northport Church of Christ.
Let’s help our children learn to live for the King.
