When I was at Southeastern University, I had a professor who had spent decades as a missionary in Southeast Asia and had witnessed God do remarkable miracles.

When he talked about healing, Professor Houlihan shared a story from his childhood. His grandmother would bake apple pie for dessert, and when he came in from playing, he would beg for a piece before dinner. She always said no—but she would bake a small piece of pie crust with cinnamon sugar on a separate dish beside the pie. Then she would smile, pull it from the oven, and let him have a taste.

He said that is what healing on earth is like: a taste of heaven and of what is to come.

As I prayed for this Sunday, Psalm 34:8 came to mind:

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”

I believe this Sunday we will have a taste of heaven—healing, forgiveness, wholeness, deliverance, and freedom.

Come expecting to taste and see that He is good.

This 5th Sunday, we are excited to welcome a special guest, Marianne Spangler from Legacy of Hope, one of the missionaries we support monthly in Honduras! She will be sharing all the updates concerning their ministry so that we can celebrate and pray with her. This is our serve project for May - so please come prepared to give generously as we will receive a special offering for them.
