Calvary Chapel Gateway embarked on a discipleship school for young adults with an emphasis on Biblical character development and practical life skills. After receiving strong feedback from students who partook of this school, we’re pleased to announce the BASIC School of Discipleship — Fall Semester 2024.

As many of you may know, our Church is launching a Discipleship School this upcoming Fall. After further consideration and planning, we have decided to make some changes to the school’s schedule and format. Our heart is still to disciple the young adults in our region by providing sound Bible teaching as well as providing classes that will instruct young men and women in our “BASIC” character development class and, our “Practical Life Skills” class.

Here is our updated schedule:
Duration: 2023 Fall Semester September 11th-December 18th
When: Every Monday 9am-4:30pm & Friday 7-9pm
Where: Calvary Chapel Gateway
Who: Young adults ages 18-24
Cost: $500 (Lunch provided every Monday)

Additional Details:
-Monday’s format will be learning sessions in the morning and afternoon.The program will be split in half between verse-by-verse Bible teaching and practical life skills needed for independent Christian living.
-Friday’s format will be flexible from week-to-week but would include fellowship, games, worship, Bible study, and group evangelism outreaches.
- There will be no homework or tests required. However, all students will be assigned the same “Bible Reading Plan” which we have created for the students. All students will be doing the same plan collectively throughout the program and will be given a journal in order to develop a daily habit of Bible reading
-Upon faithful participation and completion of the course requirements, students will be honored with a ceremony and supplied a certificate of completion.

Introducing BASIC School of Discipleship

One of life’s most challenging transitions is journeying from our teenage years into our adult lives. The BASIC School of Discipleship is a 16-week, part time, commuter-based program designed for young adults aged 18-24 who are seeking to grow in their relationship with Jesus, mature in Christian discipline, all while learning practical life skills that will serve them for the rest of their adult lives.

BASIC is an acronym for Building A Stable Inspired Course, and that is our very heart behind the program. We desire to see young adults PREPARE well, so later they do not have to REPAIR parts of their life, due to lack of discipline, or ill-informed decisions. In order to accomplish our goal of preparing young adults well, we aim to teach on topics such as goal setting, personal finances, excelling in the workplace, and living a life within a local fellowship, along with several Bible classes to help students increase in their knowledge of the Word, so that they might LIVE out the Word in their daily lives.

Classes run from August 17-December 16

Easter Sunday: To celebrate our Lord's Resurrection together, planning outdoor Worship Gathering (parking lot), 10am. Shorter meeting than normal service. Please bring own chairs/blanket. Let's be praying for, inviting, those people who need to experience hope found in the Lord.

Good Friday Service (April 2): Join us at 6:30pm for a time of Scripture Reading that reflects on the Suffering and Death of our Lord Jesus Christ, as well as a time of prayer, and partaking of Communion.

After a waiting period of monitoring and communicating with our families; we have had no indication of any spread of covid-19 from potential exposure at church services on Sun, Dec 6. We will be returning to in person gatherings for church, starting tonight at 7pm (12/16/20).
