🕵️ Are You Being Watched? 👀

Well… probably not. But then again, the paranoid are the ones who survive! 😂 Sitting in our Home Goods room is a rather intriguing little gadget: an Anti-Spy RF Bug Detector & Camera Finder. According to the box, it’s designed to help locate hidden microphones and cameras. Is it something you absolutely need? Probably not. Is it the sort of thing that makes you wonder what you might discover? Absolutely!

And that’s part of the fun of our Home Goods room. Along with the useful things you expect to find, there are always those odd, unusual, wonderfully random items that are just plain hard to explain. You may come in looking for a kitchen gadget and leave wondering why you suddenly needed an electronic spy detector! You just never know what will catch your eye when you start wandering through the room. Come take a look, explore the unexpected, and see what strange little treasure might be waiting for you.

Yes, we know—it’s still a little early to be thinking about Halloween. But our friend Buster, the thrift shop’s unofficial mascot, thinks it’s never too early to start looking! And that’s part of the fun of thrift shopping: you never know when you’ll stumble across that one strange, wonderful, unexpected item that suddenly makes you think, “Wait a minute… I could make a costume out of this!”

👻 Don’t just look for a costume—look for the possibilities! A piece of clothing, a hat, a sporting good, a toy, a piece of kitchenware, or some wonderfully mysterious object you can’t quite explain might become the key ingredient in your next great Halloween creation. Whether you’re heading out trick-or-treating, dressing up for a party, or secretly hoping to win the prize for the most imaginative costume, the search itself can be half the fun. The green will fade, the colors will grow,

We live with this beauty, day after day,

🍂 A Sunday Thought: Seasons Change

Sunday is a good day to pause and appreciate the people and community that make our little thrift shop special. As the seasons change, so do the seasons of our shop—and we wanted to give you a heads up about what’s coming next.

From September 23rd through October 10th, our End-of-Season Bag Sale will help us clear the shelves and make room for the new season’s treasures. Then, on October 17th, we’ll open with our next season’s inventory ready to be discovered. Mark your calendars and plan to stop by as we make the seasonal changeover.

🍲 There is something wonderful about cooking for people you love. The kitchen warms up, the aromas begin to fill the house, and before long everyone seems to be wandering in asking, “Is it ready yet?” Our Home Goods room has plenty of helpers for the cook, including items like Crock-Pots, slow cookers, fryers, and other kitchen tools that can make preparing a delicious meal a little easier. And who knows? Some of these treasures might even find their way into your holiday cooking!

🍽️ As the seasons turn, the gatherings are coming. Family around the table, friends dropping by, food being passed from hand to hand, and that wonderful moment when everyone finally sits down to eat. We have pans for cooking, utensils for preparing and carving, serving bowls for bringing everything to the table, and dishes to make the whole feast feel complete. So come take a look, get your creative cooking juices flowing, and start thinking about the delicious possibilities. After all, the best ingredient in any meal is good company!

🎲 Hi! Look at all the games! There are so many! School is here now, and kids have homework to do. But when the homework is done, you can have fun! You can play a game with Mom or Dad, your brother or sister, or your friends. Games are really good because you get to sit together and laugh and play!

😊 I like games because you don't have to be the best. You can just have fun! Maybe you win. Maybe somebody else wins. Maybe everybody laughs because somebody does something silly! So watch our little video and look at all the games on the shelf. Maybe you will see one you know, or maybe you will find a new game you want to play. Come get a game and let's have some fun!

🍵 There are moments when the ordinary simply will not do. Assembled as a group on the table as you arrive is a small and rather distinguished collection of porcelain—pieces with the delicacy, character, and craftsmanship that speak to another era. These are the sorts of things that invite a second look: elegant tableware, charming figures, handsome serving pieces, and objects that possess that indefinable quality collectors so often call presence. Each has its own story, and each is rather more special for not being something we encounter every day.

🏺 For the discerning eye, the pleasure is often in the discovery. We have researched these pieces and are offering them at prices considerably below what comparable examples are selling for online. 🏃 Looking for something to get you moving? You never know what you'll find in our Sporting Goods area! Today’s photos are a perfect example: a couple of yoga mats for stretching and relaxing, bags of lacrosse balls for getting together with the team—or the neighborhood—and plenty of fishing line for those who'd rather spend the day beside a quiet stream or lake. Different activities, different people, one wonderfully unpredictable place to browse!

🍂 Can you feel it? That little briskness in the morning air? Summer is beginning to loosen its grip, and soon the mountains and forests of the Valley will be putting on their spectacular autumn show. Our Thrift Shop is getting into the spirit, too, with little touches of fall—colorful foliage, pumpkins, Thanksgiving accents, and decorations that bring the warmth and beauty of the season right into your home. It’s a wonderful time of year to change things up and welcome autumn through the door!

🍎 And then there are apples! Nothing says fall quite like the smell of apples baking in the kitchen, and we have an old-fashioned crank-style apple peeler that can make preparing those apples almost as much fun as eating the pie! Imagine turning a basket of crisp autumn apples into pies, crisps, and other goodies with a little help from this wonderful kitchen gadget.
