Nancy has been serving in ministry for more than 30 years. But it hasn’t been easy.

Her husband carries scars, inside and out, from being wounded in Vietnam. Her grandson fought stomach cancer for 18 months and passed away at just 23. Four months later, her son was diagnosed with a terminal brain cancer.

So how does she keep going? She holds the deepest grief of her life in one hand and God’s promises in the other, and she’ll tell you the strength to carry both isn’t her own.

Resilience was never meant to happen alone.

When things get hard, it’s easy to pull away and try to tough it out alone. That’s usually when discouraging voices get the loudest. Nehemiah did the opposite. He called people closer and had them stand together.

God isn’t looking for professionals.

In Nehemiah 3, the people who built the wall included perfumers and goldsmiths. Everyday people who said this matters and showed up with what they had.
