In our current situation in the world, it's tempting to complain and blame, which you may be entitled to do in some cases, I'm sure.

However, as the narrator of C.S. Lewis' "The Silver Chair" says early in the book, just as one of the characters bemoans the crisis of losing a companion over a cliff, followed by confrontation with a lion: “Crying is all right in its way while it lasts. But you have to stop sooner or later, and then you still have to decide what to do.” (-Bob Guffey)

Rev. Caroline Taminger led us through a challenging consideration of Jesus's response to Peter in Matthew 16:21-28. This passage calls us to shift our perspectives to align more with Christ.

In the verses just before our passage for this week, Jesus praises Peter for correctly answering that Jesus is the Messiah. However, just after this, Jesus rebukes Peter for his response to the news that Jesus will suffer and die a horrible death. Jesus is not the Messiah Peter was expecting, and Jesus often challenged Peter to shift his perspective from human expectations to divine expectations. This Sunday, Rev. Caroline Taminger will lead us to explore where God is calling us to shift our perspectives to align more with Christ.

We're praying for the children, their parents, and, especially today, for teachers and the power teachers have to shape lives with what is good, right, and makes one whole. Thank you, God, for teachers!
