Friends, this weekend we will have name tags for everyone! Often times when we have a combined service (9:30 instead of 8 and 1030) there are members we don't know. This is a chance to meet a new friend, and say hello. We will have name tags at the 5:30 service as well! Make sure to grab yours!

“For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.” — Matthew 16:27

Christ went first. Not merely as an example to imitate from a distance — by His own blood, you are His. Purchased. Redeemed from sin, death, and the power of the devil, not with anything you gave, but with His own suffering and dying.

You belong to Him now, precisely because He already did the thing He saved you from. Whatever cross you carry, you don't carry it to become His. You carry it because you already are — bought, redeemed, held, His own. The race is won. You still run it, but never alone, and never first.

SENT TODAY:
Rest today in the fact that you belong to Christ already — not
because of what you've done, but because of what He has done.

WE PRAY:
Lord, thank You for going first, and for making me Yours by Your own blood. Amen.

REFLECT:
What changes when you think of your cross not as a debt you're paying, but as evidence of a belonging already secured?

“You are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” — Matthew 16:23

Jesus' rebuke to Peter is sharp — “Get behind me, Satan” — but the explanation underneath it is what matters most: Peter's mind was set on self-preservation, on saving what he didn't want to lose.

That's the same word Paul uses in Philippians when he tells believers to have “the mind of Christ” — the mind that didn't grasp at what it could keep, but emptied itself instead. Peter's failure and Christ's example are the same word, pointed in opposite directions.

SENT TODAY:
Notice one decision today where your mind defaults to self-preservation, and ask what the mind of Christ would do instead.

WE PRAY:
Lord, give me Your mind instead of my own instinct to protect what I don't want to lose. Amen.

REFLECT:
Where in your life is your mind set on the things of man rather than the things of God?

“What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?” — Matthew 16:26

“Soul” can feel abstract — a churchy word without much weight in daily life. So the question “what would you give for your soul” often gets a calm, considered answer: nothing.

Ask it a different way. What would you give in exchange for your child? Nobody has to calculate that answer. It comes out instantly, with real weight behind it — nothing.

That's how much your soul is actually worth to God. Not a calm nothing. An immediate, gut-level nothing. Jesus isn't asking a hypothetical. He's naming the real stakes of something you carry every day without feeling its weight.

SENT TODAY:
Let the value of your soul feel as real today as the value of someone you love without question.

WE PRAY:
Lord, help me feel the weight of what You already know: that my soul is worth everything to You. Amen.

REFLECT:
Why do you think it's easier to feel the value of a person you love than the value of your own soul?
