Renewed Hope Christian Community

Renewed Hope Christian Community We chose "Community" instead of "Church" as we journey together in homes weekly and gather monthly for worship to Love God, Love Others and Offer Hope

The methods and practices of Renewed Hope Christian Community may not look like those of mainline churches. However, the foundations and teachings are strictly Biblically based. We desire to experience and express God’s love in the freedom of God’s grace and mercy without institutional complexity. Looking at the Biblical examples of the early Christians, it is clear that they met "in temple courts

and house-to-house". Therefore, we encourage meeting in Small Groups (house-to-house) on a weekly basis. And, once a month, on the first Sunday of the month, we host a gathering called ONE Sunday (temple courts) which is an open to the public gathering of Renewed Hope. Additionally, RHCC strives to bring healing and unity to the Body of Christ. We encourage strong convictions on those faith issues open to personal interpretation while maintaining a clear understanding that personal interpretation is not a cause for division but can actually stimulate deeper exploration and understanding. Therefore, RHCC is not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations; we are, however, greatly concerned with the over-emphasis of non-salvation issues which lead to division within the Body of Christ.

As a 2025 sponsor of Project Homeless Connect Norfolk, I am sending out an ask for help. We are only eight weeks out from our 9th annual event, and we are in desperate need of volunteers on October 17th. Jobs are simple; open your heart and be a listening ear to those that are seeking services right here in our community. No experience necessary. You will simply be paired with a guest and help them navigate their way through the different services that are on-site.

Below is a link to sign up:

Faith in the fog…

“The Word became flesh…”(John 1:14) is such a strange way to tell us that Jesus was born.

Unless…
Genesis 1:1-3 begins the story of how we all got here.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”

We learn that God; 1) created; 2) is Spirit; 3) spoke (the Word).

God is:
Creator
Spirit
Word

This begins to make sense as we read, “ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:1-3)

This makes Christmas a big deal. The Word, as in, that which emanates from God; present and active participant in creation, enters into (is born) that which he had created.

“Merry Christmas” is a nice and well meaning greeting, but hardly touches the depth of the event we celebrate.

I saw this analogy and it made so much sense, so I’m sharing it with you 😊

A bottle of water at Costco is $0.25.

The same bottle in the supermarket is worth about $0.50.

The same bottle in a bar costs $2.

In a good restaurant or hotel it can be worth up to $3.

At an airport or on the plane, you may be charged $5.

The bottle and the brand is the same, the only thing that changes is the place. Each place gives a different value to the same product.

When you feel like you are worth nothing and you feel belittled, find a new place where you are known, cared for and loved.

God values you so highly that he gave a part of himself, Jesus, to restore and insure our relationship with him.

YOU ARE LOVED!

someone needs to hear this:
"You should come to
"Easter at the Loft"
April 9, at 8am."

Church at its best!

I once heard, “There is nothing like the local church, when the local church is working right!”

I am in awe of how God works amongst us. Recently, a small group member shared a need with their Small Group Leader. They had been struggling to make payments to a funeral home from the passing of a family member over a year ago. I can not imagine the weight of that burden.

The Group Leader made the need known to other group members as well as others known to be generous. Soon, money started to pour in. Within a week, about two-thirds of the needed amount had been collected. At this point, the Group Leader contacted the church to ask for help to completely meet the need.

As a church community, Renewed Hope has made it a priority to help those in need within our church community. We were ready and willing to meet this need. Within a couple days, the funeral home was paid off and the burden on the Small Group member was relieved.

In addition, continued donations came in, resulting in the extra funds being given to the Small Group member to meet other ongoing needs.

“There is nothing like the local church, when the local church is working right!”
