Spiritual Habits - Simplicity
In a culture consumed by consumerism and excess, simplicity is a radical counter-cultural choice that fosters spiritual clarity and freedom.

Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:19-21 to prioritize treasures in heaven rather than earthly possessions, for where our treasure is, there our heart will be also.

This week, we will reflect on the value of simplicity, examining how decluttering our lives from unnecessary distractions enables us to focus on what truly matters: loving God and serving others.

Prayer: “Lord, we confess that we so often fill our lives with things that don’t last. Help us to simplify—not just to make life easier, but to make room for You. Reorder our hearts. Refocus our desires. Teach us what it means to seek first Your Kingdom and trust that all else will follow.”

The Word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105), guiding us in truth and wisdom.

As we immerse ourselves in Scripture, we encounter the living God and His timeless truths.

In a world filled with distractions and noise, studying the Bible is essential for spiritual nourishment and growth.

Prayer: “God, thank You for giving us Your Word—living, active, powerful, and true. Today, open our hearts to receive what You have for us. Teach us how to listen. Teach us how to grow. And may Your Word truly be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.”

Application Challenge for the Week

So, here’s your challenge this week:

Look at Peter’s list in verses 2 Peter 1:5-7 p.1175
5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.

Pick one virtue—just one—that you sense God is calling you to grow in.
Maybe it’s self-control—and you need to set some boundaries.

Maybe it’s perseverance—and you need to stay faithful when it would be easier to quit.

Maybe it’s love—and you need to stretch beyond what’s comfortable.
Pray about it.
Write it down.
Take one small step toward growth.

Ask a friend for accountability.

Memorize a Scripture that speaks to that area.

Practice the virtue in a specific moment this week.

Whatever it is—start building.

Because a life that’s built on Christ and shaped by His character?
That’s a life that’s faithful to the finish.
