Jesus Holds Everything Together

Scripture

Hebrews 1:3

"...upholding all things by the word of his power..."

Devotional

Every heartbeat. Every sunrise. Every breath. Every galaxy. Every moment. Christ sustains them all. The universe is not running on its own. Jesus is actively governing His creation. That means your life is not spinning out of control either. The same Savior who holds the stars in place also holds His children securely. Nothing surprises Him. Nothing overwhelms Him. Nothing escapes His sovereign care.

Reflection Questions

What worries are you carrying today?

How does Christ's sovereignty give you peace?

What would trusting Jesus look like this week?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for sustaining all things—including me. Help me rest in Your faithful care instead of living in fear.

The Perfect Image of God

If you've ever wondered..."What is God like?" Look at Jesus. His compassion. His holiness. His justice. His mercy. His truth. His love. Everything Jesus does perfectly reveals the Father's heart. Jesus is not merely like God. He is God. When we study Christ, we are seeing the very character of God displayed before us.

What aspect of Christ's character encourages you most?

How does Jesus correct false ideas people have about God?

Which Gospel account most clearly reveals God's heart to you?

Father, thank You for revealing Yourself through Your Son. Help me become more like Christ each day.

The Creator Became Our Savior

Scripture: Hebrews 1:2

"...whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds."

Before Bethlehem...Jesus already existed. Before the stars... Jesus already reigned. Before time...Jesus already was. The baby lying in the manger was the Creator of the galaxies. The One who measured the oceans entered His own creation. The Author stepped into His story. Nothing about Jesus is ordinary. He owns everything because He created everything. That means your life belongs to Him—not simply because He redeemed you—but because He made you.

How does knowing Jesus created everything increase your worship?

Why is Christ worthy of complete obedience?

What areas of your life are difficult to surrender to your Creator?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You created me and You redeemed me. Help me gladly surrender every part of my life to You.

God Revealed His Plan Step by Step

Scripture: Hebrews 1:1

"...at sundry times and in divers manners..."

Luke 24:27

"And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself."

Devotional

God did not reveal His entire plan of redemption all at once.

Like the sunrise slowly brightening the morning sky, God's revelation unfolded throughout history.

Every prophet added another piece.
Every sacrifice pointed forward.
Every covenant anticipated something greater.
Every promise moved history closer to Jesus.

The Old Testament is not a collection of disconnected stories. It is one grand story of redemption that finds its fulfillment in Christ.

When we read the Bible, we should always ask, "How does this point me to Jesus?"

Why is it encouraging to know that God has been working one unified plan throughout history?

How does seeing Christ in the Old Testament strengthen your faith?

God Is a Speaking God

Scripture: Hebrews 1:1

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets."

The opening word of Hebrews is simply, "God."

The Bible does not begin with human opinions, philosophies, or experiences. It begins with God. Before we ask what we think, Scripture asks what God has said.

One of the greatest evidences of God's love is that He has chosen to reveal Himself. If God had remained silent, humanity would still be wandering in spiritual darkness. We would know something of His power through creation, but we would never know His character, His holiness, His mercy, or His plan of salvation.

Throughout the Old Testament, God continually spoke. He spoke to Adam in the garden. He called Noah to build an ark. He made promises to Abraham. He gave His Law through Moses. He raised up prophets to call His people back to Himself.

God has never been distant or indifferent. He is a God who communicates because He desires a relationship with His people.

Today, God still speaks—not through new revelation, but through His inspired Word, illuminated by the Holy Spirit. Every time we open the Scriptures, we have the privilege of hearing the voice of God.

Why is it important to remember that Christianity begins with God's revelation rather than man's search?

How has God spoken to you through His Word recently?

Are you making time each day to listen to God's voice through Scripture?

Prayer

Father, thank You for not remaining silent. Thank You for revealing Yourself through Your Word. Give me ears to hear and a heart that gladly obeys what You say. In Jesus' name, Amen.

God is not silent. He has graciously revealed Himself.
