First, Not Leftovers

Scripture: Proverbs 3:9

The principle of “firstfruits” means giving God the first and best, not what remains after everything else.

Many people offer God their leftovers—leftover time, leftover attention, leftover resources. But honoring God means putting Him first.

When we put God first, it demonstrates trust. It shows that we believe He is worthy and that He will provide for our needs.

Reflection Questions

What does it mean to give God the “first” in your life?
Are there areas where you tend to give God leftovers?
What practical step can you take to put God first this week?

Prayer

Lord, help me put You first in every area of my life

Surrender is Voluntary and Total

Scripture: Luke 9:23

God does not force surrender—He invites it. Jesus calls His followers to deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Him.

Surrender means yielding every part of life to God—our plans, desires, dreams, and decisions. Partial surrender is still resistance. True worship comes when we place everything on the altar.

God is not looking for part of your life. He wants all of it.

Reflection Questions

Why is surrender sometimes difficult?
What does “total surrender” look like practically?
Is there something you are holding back from God?

Surrender Flows from the Gospel

Scripture: Romans 12:1

Paul begins this verse with the phrase “in view of God’s mercy.” Surrender does not come from guilt or pressure—it flows from gratitude for what God has done for us through Christ.

When we understand the mercy of God, surrender becomes a joyful response rather than a reluctant duty. God gave His Son for us; the least we can do is give our lives back to Him.

The gospel always leads to surrender.

Reflection Questions

Why is it important that surrender flows from God’s mercy?
How does remembering the gospel motivate obedience?
How can gratitude shape the way you worship God this week?

Prayer

Father, thank You for Your mercy through Jesus. Help my surrender flow from gratitude and love for You.

Worship Redefined

Scripture: Romans 12:1

True worship is often associated with music, singing, and church services. While those things are important, Scripture teaches that worship goes much deeper. Worship begins with surrender. Paul calls believers to present their bodies as a living sacrifice to God.

This means worship is not just something we do on Sunday—it is the daily offering of our lives to God. Every decision, every action, and every priority can become an act of worship when it is surrendered to Him.

Worship is not simply a song we sing. It is a life we give.

Reflection Questions

What normally comes to mind when you think about worship?
How does Romans 12:1 challenge your understanding of worship?
What area of your life might God be asking you to surrender?

Prayer

Lord, help me see worship as more than music. Teach me to offer my whole life to You as a living sacrifice.
