As many of you know, the bridge that collapsed in Maryland was named after Francis Scott Key, who wrote our National Anthem, just 100 yards away from the disaster, during the intense, 25-hour bombardment of Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. What many may not know, is that Key was also helping negotiate the release of a prominent physician (Dr. William Beanes) whom the British had captured. It is interesting to note that just one day ago, the United States, which holds veto power at the UN, refused to support Israel and the requirement to free Israeli hostages as part of a cease-fire negotiation, essentially leaving hostages to fend for themselves and favoring Hamas. This caused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office to cancel a scheduled meeting of two ministers coming to Washington stating the US had "abandoned its policy" at the UN by forsaking Israel. One cannot make these things up and just in case you can't see it, there are significant, prophetic pictures in these events.

Our support of Israel is crucial and if we believe the scripture that says " I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you (Genesis 12:3)," then our actions toward Israel become significant. As one man attempts to free a hostage over 200 years ago and one nation refuses to guarantee the freedom of Israel's hostages, we begin to see the collapse of a spiritual bridge between the US and God's people, and the ensuing results. The body of Christ in America must continue to pray for a supernatural awakening in America and ask the Lord "in wrath to remember mercy ( Habakkuk 3:2)."
