Toxic dynamics can easily pull us out of character. When someone treats us with anger, manipulation, or constant criticism, our natural reaction is to hit back. But God calls us to a higher standard.

In Galatians 5:22-23, Paul outlines the Fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here is how these traits protect your peace around difficult people:

Patience & Self-Control: You cannot control how a toxic person acts, but you can control your reaction. Self-control keeps you from reacting in anger.

Peace & Kindness: Kindness is not weakness. You can set firm boundaries to protect your peace while still choosing not to repay evil with evil.

Goodness & Love: Choosing love means you refuse to let someone else's toxic behavior change the goodness inside you.You cannot force a toxic person to change, but you can allow the Holy Spirit to change how you respond.Want to learn how to live out the Fruit of the Spirit in every relationship?

Living for anything less than the glory of God is satanic.

The love of God is manifested in the cross perfectly but there is another aspect of God's love which is equally important: the sacred entrustment that He has given us to be the Church.

When a storm hits the disciples while they are sailing on the water, there was suffering and misery. They probably weren't the only ones on the water that night. Other sailors were being tossed on the waves but only the disciples were on a mission from God, and they met God in that storm, and He calmed the storm when He had met them.

God is good yet His parables show us a harsh reality of life and death. Seeds either live or die and the issue of Heaven and Hell is at stake. How can we see the love of God and also the mercy of God through these teachings? Jesus perfectly is both in His life and words.

In Hebrews 12:1-2, we are reminded:

“let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith."

Notice it doesn't say to fix our eyes on our circumstances, our worries, or our schedules. It says to fix our eyes on Jesus. When He is at the center of our week, our perspective shifts. Tasks become opportunities to serve, and challenges become moments to trust His grace.
No matter what this week holds for you, remember that you don't have to carry it alone. Jesus is walking right alongside you.

Justice and time are two simple words with very complex experiences. Jesus addresses our world view and seeks to inform us to His perspective in order to guard us against false expectations given to us by those who deny Jesus.
