A great reminder from The Ladies of Pretty in Prayer:

September has a way of arriving with a full calendar before we even realize it. The school year gets underway, activities begin, practices and appointments fill our days, and suddenly life feels like one long list of places to go and things to do. Before long, the quiet spaces in our schedules seem to disappear. It can be easy during these busy seasons to tell ourselves that we will make time for what matters most when life finally slows down. We say things like...

We’ll pray together when everyone has more energy.

We’ll go to Mass during the week when we aren’t rushing from one thing to another.

We’ll invite family over when the house is clean and the schedule is open.

We’ll spend more time with the Lord when we get everything else finished.

But the truth is, there will probably always be something else waiting for us. Another chore, another practice, another phone call, another commitment competing for our time. Maybe this season is not about finding a way to accomplish more. Maybe it is about choosing what matters most and making room for it first.

It doesn’t have to be complicated or perfectly planned. It may simply mean protecting a few moments that help keep our hearts and homes centered on what is truly important:
• Sunday Mass.
• A family prayer before bedtime.
• Sharing a meal together at the table.
• Celebrating a special feast day.
• A few quiet moments with God before the rest of the household begins to stir.

Every family will have different priorities and different seasons of life. But perhaps this is a gentle reminder that the things we value most should not always be left for whatever time happens to remain.

The moments that shape a family are often not the grand occasions we plan so carefully. More often, they are the small, faithful habits we practice over and over again. As we begin this new season, we are praying that your family finds time for the things that bring you closer to one another and, most importantly, closer to the Lord.

With prayers for your family,

The Ladies of Pretty in Prayer
