Hi everyone! DoXa Church here and it’s been a minute. Life and ministry has been moving along so let’s get you caught up.

Some of our sisters enjoyed a late September weekend retreat hosted by and sponsored by .

Apple picking allowed us to enjoy God’s good and beautiful creation together while chomping on way too many Granny Smiths.

October was Pastor’s Appreciation month and we honored our pastors and their wives. We’re so grateful for the spiritual shepherds the Lord has placed over us.

Life Groups have been where we can enjoy getting into the “one anothers” of the Word (even while we watch our beloved Yankees lose to the Dodgers).

We celebrated October birthdays with plenty of desserts!

Our Sunday worship gathering space is more than just a space to rent..it’s our “Jerusalem” (Acts 1:8) that we seek to reach and love. Thank you and for partnering with us in our mission to be about the Great Commandment (loving God and neighbor) and the Great Commission (making Jesus known).

This past Friday we partnered with Brushy Creek Baptist Church and Ministry to engage our Battery Park City neighbors. We had many fill out spiritual surveys and many Gospel conversations were shared.

Our partner church sent up a crew of high school students, counselors, and their senior pastor James Ross to serve God’s Kingdom purposes in NYC.

They got in a lot of steps, braved the subways, and encountered the nations as they served their hearts out.

Some DoXa folks had the opportunity to worship with them last night. It was a sweet time of forging relationships as we set our eyes on Christ and His mission together.

Acts 13-14 chronicles Paul and Barnabas’s groundbreaking missionary journey, marking a shift in focus for the early church. They follow the Holy Spirit’s lead and travel, preach, and establish churches in cities like Iconium. While encountering opposition throughout their journey they also find receptive audiences among the Gentiles who welcome their message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Messiah.

These chapters offer valuable lessons for sharing faith. Paul and Barnabas encountered diverse audiences, reminding us that the Gospel is for everyone and transcends cultures and backgrounds. Their ministry wasn’t confined to one place as they traveled and preached wherever they could. We can learn to be adaptable, finding ways to connect with others in our own communities or even stepping outside them. Most importantly, throughout their journeys Paul and Barnabas always pointed to Jesus’s life, teachings, sacrifice, and resurrection. Let their unwavering focus on Christ inspire us to keep Him central in our faith and share His message with boldness and clarity with all.

In Acts 10 we see God command two men through visions and how they respond in different ways. Cornelius immediately does what God tells him to do while Peter fails to do so three times. It is only until Peter witnessed Cornelius’s obedience to God that he understands the command he failed to follow and is able to preach the gospel to the Gentiles.

Even though we might not understand Jesus’s call for us we should follow where He calls, having faith that He will guide us along the way. When Cornelius is called to bring Peter, he did not know what type of person he would be or if he would even be where God said he would be. When Peter is told to kill and eat the animals in his vision he was confused because it went against what he was taught. Even with Peter’s delay Jesus was able to use them because they followed and listened to Him. Peter took the unlawful risk of going and associating himself with the Gentiles because he learned that God shows no partiality. He understood the importance of preaching Jesus to all because all need Jesus.

Let us grow in our faith to be able to hear Jesus’s call for us so we can follow and listen to Him. Let us prepare ourselves to be used to share the gospel with everyone, remembering that everyone needs Jesus.

In 1 Timothy 5, we glimpse into the profound insights and compassionate leadership of Apostle Paul. As a visionary pivotal in church establishment, Paul’s legacy reverberates through the ages, shaping our faith journey. Within this chapter, he imparts invaluable guidance to Timothy, addressing the handling of false teachings, the sanctity of worship, the essence of righteous leadership, the qualifications for elders, and the nuances of pastoral authority. Amidst this rich tapestry of instructions, verse 23 serves as a poignant reminder: “Don’t miss the forest for the trees.” Paul underscores the wisdom of prioritizing overarching principles over minor details that may obscure the greater mission. He delves into the intricacies, offering both encouragement and correction with unwavering love for the flock entrusted to him. Paul’s heart beats with a deep affection for those under his care, exemplifying a shepherd’s devotion to nurturing and guiding.
