God cares for us through our relationships with others. He wears the mask of a friend when we are in need of comfort, the mask of a teacher when we need help with homework, and the mask of a pastor when He delivers His Word and Sacrament to us. However, sin often isolates us from others. The devil uses this isolation to make us feel alone and unloved. But these thoughts are lies. When we are with others, particularly the people of God, we hear the truth: we are loved by God. We can be certain of this because He created, redeemed, and called us to faith. We are His. This truth is far more powerful than the lies of isolation.

As we move through Church Worker Appreciation Month, today we thank God for all Directors of Church Ministry (DCM) who not only work to support the faith journey of a church's parishioners but also support the leadership of the congregation. DCMs have a unique position where they get to serve and support God's people and the servants of God in all that they do, through each trial and tribulation. Please pray for God's blessing on the work of all DCMs, that their work would continue to uphold the lives of all God's people in the church.

As we move through Church Worker Appreciation Month, today we thank God for all Directors of Family Life Ministry (DFLM) who have the wonderful job of upholding God's gift of family. Family is a gift from God and is a place of comfort and support for each of its members. Unfortunately, families are often attacked by the devil, which is where the work of a DFLM is most important, as they walk alongside families and give them resources they can use to overcome difficulties in faith. Please pray that God would continue to use DFLMs to uphold the gift of families throughout His church!

The Reformation was an era of recovery and faithful proclamation of the Gospel beginning in 1517 when Dr. Martin Luther pinned his 95 theses to the doors of Castle Church in Wittenberg. This document was meant to call Pope Leo X to repent for his various doctrinal errors, but soon spread its way throughout Germany. Luther, alongside other faithful reformers, contributed the initial documents of the Lutheran Confessions including the Small and Large Catechisms and the Augsburg Confession. These documents proclaim the sweet message of the Gospel, that we are saved by grace through faith, on account of Christ Jesus. This saving faith is a free gift of God, not a result of works. Since the Reformation was a time of recovery of this blessed Gospel, the motto of the time was “Verbum Domini Manet in Aeternum,” which means, “The Word of the Lord endures forever.” To learn more about The Festival of the Reformation visit https://allthehousehold.com/festival-of-the-reformation/.

We invite you to sing with us the hymn, “Salvation unto Us Has Come,” found on page 555 of the Lutheran Service Book. The sixth stanza proclaims the sacrifice Christ made to uphold our lives.
