Today we honor and remember Eden Montang and Vivian Flores: two young women in Cornerstone’s church family who lost their lives in the tragic shooting on June 2, 2022. In the midst of deep loss and grief, we’ve walked through together this year, we’ve been anchored by the hope, promise, and tension of John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” As a church family, we have felt and experienced the glimmers of light shining in the profound darkness this past year.

We have found hopeful glimmers of light through remembering how God specially made Eden and Vivian for His glory. Eden’s joy was explosive and her laughter contagious; she was caring, passionate, determined, generous, bold and courageous, and curious about the things of God. Vivian’s strength was gentle; she was selfless and hard-working, loyal, joyful, compassionate and encouraging, wise and sincere. At their core, Eden and Vivian loved Jesus and lived faithfully to reflect His light. And because of Christ’s victory over death’s darkness, we rejoice in the hope of heaven where tears, death, and pain are no more.

We’ll see you Sunday at 8:45a and 10:45a as we worship and reflect on John 1:5 together - don’t forget your flowers 💐Please visit cornerstonelife.com to contribute to the scholarship fund set up in honor of Vivian.

Sol Rexius has been the Salt Company Ames Director for the last five years and while that season has come to an end, we can’t wait to see all that God does through Generations Church in Eugene, Oregon, which he will be planting in the fall of 2023!
