Throughout Mark’s Gospel, the disciples misunderstand Jesus’ predictions of His death, clinging instead to their own vision of earthly glory. In Mark 10:35-45, Jesus addresses James and John’s desire for honor by redefining true greatness—not through position or status, but through sacrificial service modeled by His own death on the cross. Hearing Christ clearly requires allowing Him to reshape our personal ambitions around His self-giving love. As we reflect back on Mark's Gospel for our Lord's Table remembrance, prayerfully ask yourself: where am I still trying to make Jesus serve my definition of greatness?

Who do you say I am? There may be no other question more important than this. This entire series we have seen Jesus reveal his true identity to the disciples, the religious leaders, and the crowds. We have see all kinds of varied responses to Jesus’ words and works. We now reach a pinnacle moment in Peter’s life where he declares in faith the true identity of Jesus. While he doesn’t yet fully understand the words coming out of his mouth, he is convinced that there is no other Messiah than Jesus Christ.

Join us this Sunday, at 8:30 and 11:00 am, as we consider Jesus’ question, Peter’s response, and how this brings us to answering the most important question of our lives.

Just as there are means to test the authenticity of a dollar bill, famous painting, or valuable autograph, there are means in which God tests the authenticity of our faith. If authenticity is confirmed, these items are treated with immense value! Across the gospels, Jesus looked for people full of authentic faith. When Jesus found a person of faith, he never withheld his mercy toward them. Faith in Jesus gives undeserving people complete access to the mercy of God!

This week, we are going to see this on display with a perplexing, yet wonderful story of Jesus extending mercy to a Syrophoenician woman. Join us as we learn how the testing of our faith is what leads to experiencing the blessings of Jesus Christ.

17 days ago, our community changed in an instant. A tornado tore through our homes and our businesses in a matter of minutes. Today, as we close out our final day open for supply pick-up, we want to say THANK YOU. On July 27, after the storm passed, our church leadership team saw a huge need in our community, and didn't hesitate to respond. Our congregation stepped into action to serve, and God provided.
..and WOW, did He provide. 🙏🏼

Within hours, He flooded our church doors with donations, volunteers, and meals. It was overwhelming how quickly this community stepped up to help those directly in the path of the tornado. We met amazing people from across Wisconsin...and even those from across the United States. We shared the gospel with hundreds of people, had the opportunity to pray with almost every person who came in for help, and saw God working mightily in the lives of many.

We are feeling so much gratitude today...gratitude for a God who is faithful through the storms, and gratitude for a church body who comes alongside one another, and shares the love of Jesus in practical ways. Thank you to every single person who donated an item, served with us, delivered supplies and meals, and prayed with us. Each one of you was a vital part of making this "community supply center" at Calvary operational the last 17 days. For so many of us it was much more than a room full of supplies; it's been a life-giving opportunity to see the gospel lived out.

To our community - we are praying for you, and we as a church body are here for you. To listen, to help, and to pray with you. Our work isn't done...it's just now time that work moves outside our church walls, and directly into the neighborhoods that need it the most. We will still be helping how we can, and there are a lot of other ways we will encourage you all to serve moving forward. Please join us in continuing to pray for the Fox Valley.

We are open again today for supply pick-up only from 12pm-6pm! As our supply is dwindling, Thursday will likely be our final day open to the public. We will keep you updated. Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who have walked alongside people as they came to get supplies. It's been remarkable to hear everyone's stories, and see what God is doing through this community. 🙏🏼

There will be FREE brewed coffee for the community today in our cafe as well, through Door 15.

It's been another amazing week, watching God at work here at Calvary! With the help of Jones Logistics and FV Recycling, we served 7,200 meals from our church parking lot...and we served close to 1,000 families with supplies and assistance the last two weeks. God has been so faithful to provide for our community. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated items, prayed for families, and came to support. We are truly in awe of the glory of God in every single story.

❓So, what's the plan moving forward? We are closed Saturday and Sunday as we start to shift our church to help with distribution. We will be open August 10-13, from 12:00-6:00 pm for supply pick-up ONLY. We will not take any more donations next week.

Our volunteer needs will look a little different as well! Daily we will need about 15 people to continue with our Fellowship Center supply set-up. That is about half what we were needing before. We will need greeters, shoppers, organizers, and 1-2 leaders for the supply room. If you're wanting to volunteer a certain time next week, please reach out.

To the dedicated and devoted staff, congregants, and volunteers who spent 12+ hour days the last two weeks, thank YOU. So many of you were here early and stayed late to make sure every single family, and need, was met. You poured your heart and soul into each person...your hard work has not gone unseen. You made a difference in the lives of people in our community, and we are grateful. ♥️

Please keep praying for the Fox Valley. It is going to take a long time to rebuild...pray for healing, for restoration, and for God to work through each and every family. 🙏🏼

Good morning to our Calvary family and the Fox Valley community! 👋🏼 We are open again today from 11am-7pm for supply pick-up and donation drop-off at 1450 Oakridge Rd in Neenah. Thank you to all of you who have donated and to the amazing volunteers who show up, day in and day out. We served 100 families yesterday alone and have had 40-50 volunteers daily helping keep our Fellowship Center going.

Supplies that are most needed are below. A lot of these items were completely out after a busy day yesterday. Thank you for your support.

Note: we will not be open Saturday and Sunday, and we are still working with Winnebago County to figure out how we can continue to help our community in the weeks and months to come. We will keep you updated here, and at cbcneenah.org/cbccrisisresponse.

Dinner will be served tonight at 5:30 pm at Calvary, and Mercy Chefs will provide one more meal on Saturday before they are finished.

*Also, for those who need it - 211 is not just for those needing assistance after the tornado. They are also documenting all damage. The county could potentially end up getting federal assistance, and the info on damages will be very helpful. Please call 211 to report your damage, or you can fill out the form online as well.
