Spiritual sleep doesn’t always look like walking away from God. Sometimes it looks like going through familiar motions while no longer paying attention to what is happening inside us.

Jesus’ words to Sardis are urgent, but they’re also hopeful: “Strengthen what remains.”

Where have you been relying on yesterday’s faithfulness instead of seeking Jesus today?

Some days, it feels like the loudest voices, biggest problems, and most powerful people are in control.

The first Christians reading Revelation understood that feeling. Rome seemed to be everywhere, but when John looked into heaven, he saw a throne.

And Caesar wasn’t sitting on it.

God was.

Whatever feels overwhelming today, remember, God is still on the throne, and Jesus has already won.

Self-sufficiency can look like strength while quietly making us blind to what is happening within our souls. Yet Jesus doesn’t expose our need to shame us. He reveals it because He is standing at the door with everything we truly need.
