"Awesome God" - Matthew 28:16-20 - Gary Willis

This day is a rare Sunday on which we celebrate a theological concept that is never actually mentioned in the Bible. Trinity Sunday is a profession of the belief that God is expressed and experienced in three forms: God, Jesus and the Spirit. The doctrine is not, however, a way that we creatures somehow “grasp” God. Our God is far too big to be contained.

The first witnesses were certainly caught off guard by the first Pentecost experience. The people wondered, “What does it mean?” It seems that we are still asking that question about Pentecost all these years later. While we cannot repeat that first birth of the Church, we are being asked to provide an answer to that question.
