Hanging with the wrong crowd? 🤔
In this morning’s message, we’re looking at a moment from Matthew 9 that completely flipped the religious world upside down.
Jesus walks up to Matthew—a despised tax collector viewed as a traitor to his people—and says two words: "Follow me."
But it doesn't end there. Next thing you know, Jesus is sitting at a massive dinner table packed with other tax collectors and "outcasts," laughing and sharing a meal (just like the scene in the image below!).
When the religious elites looked on with judgment, asking why He was associating with those people, Jesus dropped a truth bomb that defines the heart of the Gospel:
"It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick... I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
If you’ve ever felt like you didn't fit the mold, or if you've ever been guilty of judging who belongs at the table, today's message is a powerful reminder that God's grace is a gift for the broken, not a reward for the perfect.
