🦃🍂 LIL ACORN MINISTRIES THANKSGIVING OUTREACH... HELP US BLESS LOCAL FAMILIES! 🍂🦃

Thanksgiving is just around the corner... And this year, Lil Acorn Ministries is preparing to help others by providing everything they need for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner!

Each family will receive:

🦃 A turkey

🍞 Dressing

🌽 Corn

🫛 Green beans

🥖 Dinner rolls

Our prayer is to take a little of the burden off families this holiday season and help make sure they have a warm Thanksgiving meal to share around their tables...

And we're asking our community to help us make it happen! ❤️

We're currently seeking donations of frozen turkeys to help offset the cost of this outreach... Every turkey donated is one less we have to purchase and allows us to stretch our ministry resources a little further to reach more families.

If you would like to donate a turkey, please send Lil Acorn Ministries a private message... We'll be happy to make arrangements to pick it up in Mullens or the surrounding communities.

And if you're unable to donate, we'd sure appreciate you sharing this post and helping us spread the word!

Sometimes sharing God's love looks like making sure a family has a Thanksgiving dinner on their table...

Because sharing God's love in practical ways is what Lil Acorn Ministries is all about...❤️

🐾 Another Lil Feller Looking for His Furever Home! 🐾❤️

We were contacted about this sweet lil feller last night, and goodness gracious, is he ever a LOVE BUG! 🥹❤️

He's approximately 8 weeks old and has the sweetest, most loving little personality. He just wants somebody to love on him!

We're currently full here at Lil Acorn Ministries, so this precious boy is staying with a foster while we work on finding him his very own furever home. 🏡🐶

If you've got a little extra room in your home and a whole lot of love in your heart, this lil feller might just be the one for you!

🍂 QUICK SURVEY, Y'ALL! 🦌

We're looking ahead to fall and have a quick question for our community...

Does your family eat deer meat (venison)?

If Lil Acorn Ministries were able to acquire some venison this fall, would your family be interested in receiving some?

We have limited freezer space, so any meat we receive would need to be distributed pretty quickly.

We're just trying to get a feel for how many families would be interested before we make plans.

Please drop a YES or NO in the comments!

And please SHARE this post so we can reach more families throughout our communities and get a better idea of the need and interest.

This is just a survey for now... We aren't announcing a distribution yet.

🌳 LIL ACORN MINISTRIES — PLANTING SEEDS,
AND EXTENDING GRACE ❤️

We are excited to announce that TWO new harm reduction boxes are on their way to Lil Acorn Ministries!

These boxes are designed to be stocked daily with a dose of naloxone (Narcan) and other harm reduction supplies...making these potentially lifesaving resources more accessible to individuals in our communities.

We are currently praying over the placement of these boxes and working on a grant that will help us bring additional harm reduction supplies into some of our more remote Appalachian communities...places where resources are often scarce and help isn't always just around the corner.

We want to make something very clear...

These boxes are NOT intended to be emergency response stations or destinations someone should travel to during an overdose emergency. If someone is experiencing an overdose, call 911 immediately. These boxes are intended to put additional supplies into the hands of individuals who may need them...BEFORE an emergency happens.

Now...we understand that not everybody is going to understand this area of ministry. Some folks may even disagree with it.

And that's alright...

But here's where we stand...

We serve a Savior who didn't shy away from the broken, the struggling, the rejected, or the folks society had already written off.

And we cannot, in good faith, stand before the Lord one day with the seeds He entrusted to us still locked away in our hearts...simply because we were afraid of what somebody might think about where we planted them.

Luke 12:48 (KJV) reminds us...
"For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required..."

We believe that wholeheartedly.

If the Lord has given us the opportunity to extend mercy...we ought to extend it.
If He's given us the resources to help preserve a life...we ought to use them.
And if He's placed somebody in our path who's struggling...our first responsibility isn't to decide whether they're worthy of our compassion.
It's to remember how much compassion we've been shown ourselves.

Harm reduction isn't about celebrating addiction...it's about recognizing that a person struggling with addiction is still a person made in the image of God.

Still somebody's baby...somebody's momma...somebody's daddy...somebody's brother or sister.

Still somebody Jesus loves.

And still somebody worth keeping alive.

❤️ HERE'S WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Our boxes are expected to be installed within the next few weeks, and our grant-provided supplies should begin arriving in early November.
We are looking for individuals who would be interested in helping us steward this ministry...folks willing to assist with keeping these boxes stocked and ensuring these resources remain available to those who need them.

If you feel led to help, please send us a private message.
And whether you can volunteer or not...we are asking you to pray.

Pray over the locations of these boxes.
Pray over the individuals who will use them.
Pray over the families who are hurting.
Pray for wisdom as we continue developing this area of ministry.

And pray that we never become so concerned with what the world thinks about our ministry that we forget who called us to it in the first place.

Because at the end of the day...we aren't called to decide which ground deserves a seed.
We're called to be faithful with the seeds the Lord gave us.

And we're going to keep planting them...even in the hard places. 🌱

The first rule of Cat Sanctuary...you don't talk about Cat Sanctuary. 🐈😂

Well, apparently somebody missed the memo...(me...)

Last night at exactly 7:37 PM, this lil floof was dropped off at the Lil Brown Church.

At 7:59 PM, our cameras picked up the sound of a kitty crying...and at 8:02 PM, this little fella (or gal) was spotted running across the parking lot from the back door.

Thankfully, we have some absolutely wonderful neighbors who made sure this baby had food and water. ❤️

Unfortunately, now we can't find the lil rascal.

Y'all...we need to talk about something.
We love animals. We love people. We love our communities. And we have poured our hearts, time, and personal resources into helping every way we possibly can.

But the Lil Brown Church is not staffed every day. In fact, we're currently shut down while we work toward getting volunteers in to repair our roof and continue remodeling the apartment.

We're helping where we can...when we can...with what we have.

And here's something that's mighty important to us...

Being a good neighbor is just as much a part of ministry as feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, or rescuing a helpless animal.

We want to go above and beyond to pour back into these little mountain communities we love so much. But that also means we have an even greater responsibility to the folks living right beside our ministry buildings.

Our neighbors shouldn't have to become unwilling caretakers of animals left on church property. They shouldn't have to worry about abandoned animals wandering into the road, crying outside their homes, or going hungry because nobody is there.

And those poor animals deserve better, too.

We aren't an animal shelter with staff on duty around the clock. We're a small ministry doing the best we can with limited resources, a whole lot of faith, and some mighty big dreams.

Please...if you have an animal that needs help, reach out. Have a conversation with us. Let us see what resources we can find or who we might be able to connect you with. But please don't just drop them off and drive away.

Compassion without responsibility can create suffering for the very creatures we're trying to help.

Now...if anybody happens to spot this adorable lil floof around the Lil Brown Church, please let us know. We'd really like to find this baby and make sure it's safe.

And to our wonderful neighbors who stepped up to feed and water this little one...thank you. You're exactly the kind of neighbors we're trying to be.

Love God...love your neighbor...and please don't abandon your critters at the church.

🐾 CAT FOOD AVAILABLE FOR OUR COMMUNITY! 🐾

We have been blessed with several cases of cat food arriving tomorrow! ❤️

We have already allocated food for our cat sanctuary and the feral colonies we help feed throughout the Mullens area...and once everything is unloaded and sorted, we will have additional cases to share with folks throughout the Lil Acorn Ministries service area.

We know times are hard...and sometimes keeping them little bellies full can get expensive when you've got several mouths hollering at ya. 🐱❤️

We're currently coordinating with some folks throughout our service area to set up a convenient pickup location.

If you could use a case or two of cat food to help feed your babies...please comment below. 👇

No shame...no judgment...no hoops to jump through.
