📢 Exciting News from Lil Acorn Ministries! 📢

We are excited to announce that our new Lil Food Pantry is scheduled to arrive next week!

This pantry will serve as a blessing to the Mullens community by providing access to shelf-stable food items, hygiene products, and basic household necessities for individuals and families facing difficult times.

As we prepare for this new ministry opportunity, we will need volunteers to help assemble and set up the pantry once it arrives. Whether you can spare an hour or an afternoon, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Most importantly, we respectfully ask for your continued prayers. Please pray that this pantry will be a tool the Lord uses to meet needs, open doors for ministry, and remind our neighbors that they are loved and not forgotten.

Thank you for standing with us as we continue serving our communities.
We love Him, and we love y'all.

May the Lord use this pantry to fill more than empty cupboards. May it be a place where folks find hope, encouragement, and a reminder that somebody cares. 🌱

Just a little reminder on this random Tuesday…

Jesus spent a whole lot more time walking dusty roads with hurting people than He did building Facebook followers...

He sat with the broken.
He listened to the rejected.
He loved people nobody else wanted around.

And He still does.

So if today feels heavy…
if you’re tired…
if life has knocked the wind outta you a little…

Take heart.

We love you. We are intentionally praying for you. We are shifting our outreach to get out there and walk those dusty hollar roads just like Jesus did.❤️

Lil Acorn Ministries will be out on the streets of downtown Mullens starting at 6:00pm reading the Word of God, ministering to folks, and praying for the needs of our community.

No fluff.
No frills.
No fancy clever spin to tickle ears.

Just the Word of God straight out of the Good Book.

We’ll be out there among the people where Jesus would’ve been — praying, listening, talking, and sharing the Gospel openly. If you need prayer, got questions, carrying burdens, fighting addiction, wrestling with doubt, angry at God, curious about Scripture, or just want somebody to stand with you for a little while… come see us.

You don’t gotta dress up.
You don’t gotta pretend.
You don’t gotta have it all together.

Just come.

We are in the process of remodeling this Sunday school room that we converted to a temporay emergency shelter room. Donated flooring arrives Wednesday and we could use voulenteers to help paint and clean. With a little elbow grease and Jesus this place will bless so many famlies!

🌭🔥 Hot Dog Fundraiser – Come See Us! 🔥🌭

Lil Acorn Ministries will be set up at the Mullens Family Dollar on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 1:00pm – 6:00pm serving up some good food for a great cause.

We’re raising funds to purchase a Generac generator for the Little Brown Church, so we can continue to keep the doors open during power outages and local emergencies—providing a place of warmth, safety, and support for our community.

Menu:
🌭 Hot Dogs – $3 each
🍽 Meal Deal – $8
(2 hot dogs, chips, and a drink)

Every dollar goes directly toward helping us better serve our coal camp communities when they need it most.

Come grab a bite, say hello, and help us keep the light on at the Little Brown Church ❤️

It is with heavy hearts that we at Lil Acorn Ministries extend our deepest sympathies to the family of H.W. Sexton on his passing.

We first met H last summer when he walked over and introduced himself while we were rehabbing the church. In the short time we had with him, his humble spirit and servant’s heart left a lasting mark on all of us.

It didn’t matter what was needed—H was there. Whether it was peeling potatoes, helping clean, standing out on the street corner ministering in the bitter cold, or simply checking in on those staying at the warming station, he showed up with quiet faithfulness every time.

His life was a reflection of the love of Jesus Christ, and we are truly grateful for the way he poured into this community.

While we grieve his loss, we also rejoice knowing he has gone home to be with the Lord.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Rest now, H. We’ll see you soon.

We will be gathering at the Little Brown Church this Saturday, April 25, 2026 starting at 12:00pm to continue the work the Lord has set before us. We’ll be remodeling the Family Room, cleaning, and painting—and we’ll stay at it as long as there’s work to do.

If you’ve been looking for a way to serve, come on out. There’s a place for you.

Due to the anticipated rain on Saturday, we’ll be shifting our outreach plans and hitting the road on Sunday, April 26, 2026 beginning at 2:00pm with our ministry truck outreach.

We’ll be delivering ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks throughout the community, including:

Mullens Hill (Highland, Circle, and Frantz)
Corinne Bottom
Wyco Hollar
Iroquois Bottom
Amigo Hollar

We are so thankful for everyone who came out today to help restore the Rhodell Playground. Your time, effort, and willingness to serve are making a real difference in our community—one step at a time.
Next work session, we’ll be leveling the ground, mulching the swing area, and pressure washing and prepping the ball court.
There’s still plenty to do, and we’d love to have you join us.
Together, we’re workkng with God while He brings new life back to this space. 💛

Ministry Update from Lil Acorn Ministries
We want to share an important update with our community.
At this time, our Temporary Emergency Shelter and Lil Sprouts Kitchen are temporarily closed as we begin remodeling our family room and storage areas. These improvements are part of our ongoing effort to better serve those who walk through our doors with dignity, comfort, and care.
While these spaces are being refreshed, our mission doesn’t stop — it just shifts.
In the meantime, we will be focusing on providing meals through our mobile ice cream outreach, continuing to meet people right where they are and making sure no one is forgotten.
This is an exciting season of growth for the ministry and for the communities we serve. We truly believe God is moving in these little coal camp towns, and we’re working diligently to follow His vision every step of the way.
