As we head into another Sunday, a question worth sitting with from this week's message:

When God calls you to do a hard and unbelievable thing in the middle of your very ordinary life — what will you do with the excuses, and what will you do with the call?

Moses went back to Egypt. Peter picked up his cross. Neither got to choose the version of the story they would've written for themselves.

Wherever you are this weekend, ordinary ground can turn holy fast. Keep your eyes open. 🌿

Pastor Mary Frances shared something personal on Sunday: when she was wrestling with her own call to ministry, she had a whole basket of excuses ready for God — her kids were too little, seminary would be too hard, she'd never get into Duke anyway.

One by one, God cleared the excuses out of the way.

Maybe you've got a basket of your own excuses sitting somewhere. We'd love to hear how God has answered one of yours — even just a little. Faith grows louder when we say these things out loud together. 💛

In Sunday's sermon, Pastor Mary Frances shared a scene from "The Lord of the Rings" — the moment Frodo tells Gandalf, "I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."

Gandalf's answer has stuck with a lot of us this week: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time given to us."

Moses wished it too. Maybe you have this week. The call doesn't disappear because the fear is reasonable — but neither does the choice in front of us.

"But God said, 'I will be with you.'" — Exodus 3:12 (CEB)

Moses never gets a guarantee that the mission will be easy or safe. He gets something better — a promise of presence. Whatever hard thing is in front of you this week, that promise is still standing.

Sit with this verse for a minute today. What would change if you actually believed it?

Taking up your cross means surrendering self-centered plans for God's radical, upside-down Kingdom—where actions matter more than words.

Fear makes sense, but the call remains. Moses, Peter, us—will you say yes to what you've been handed today?

God calls us in the middle of our ordinary lives—He interrupts a Tuesday, not a temple. Are you listening for your burning bush today?

Moses had FIVE excuses for God at the burning bush. Five. "I'm a nobody." "I don't even know your name." "They won't believe me." "I'm not a good speaker." "Please, send someone else."
Sound familiar?

We want to know: what's your go-to excuse when you sense God nudging you toward something hard? Drop it in the comments — no judgment here, just good company. 👇

"God does not wait until we've cleared our schedule, or until we're somewhere that feels sacred, to call us into something hard. God interrupts the sheep pasture. God interrupts the walk down the road. God interrupts a Tuesday."

Sunday's message looked at Moses at the burning bush and Peter on the road to Jerusalem — two ordinary people, interrupted by an extraordinary call. Where has God interrupted your ordinary week lately? 🔥
