The early church didn't grow because of polished programs or well-funded campaigns.

It grew because ordinary people told their stories.
"I was lost and now I'm found. I was broken and now I'm being made whole. I met Jesus and everything changed."

That was the strategy. Personal. Vulnerable. Powerful.

One of the most transforming things we can do for someone we love is simply tell them where we have found hope. Not to argue β€” just to witness.

Come and see. πŸ•ŠοΈ

The Great Commission can feel overwhelming. Go. Make disciples. Baptize. Teach. All nations. All the earth.
But here's the pastoral word for a Thursday: You don't have to go to all the nations. You just have to go to the next person.
Is there a neighbor you haven't met? A friend waiting for an invitation? A conversation you've been putting off?
The Great Commission begins right there. 🏑

This Sunday many churches observe Trinity Sunday β€” a day to reflect on the mystery of one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Read our short guide on what Trinity Sunday means and why it matters: https://wix.to/f2qwi8k

Trinity Sunday is a special day in the Christian calendar. It falls on the Sunday after Pentecost, which means this Sunday many churches will celebrate this week. This day honors the Christian belief in the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. These thre...

Even the disciples doubted.

Here's something Matthew doesn't hide: when the eleven disciples saw the risen Jesus on that mountain β€” after everything they had witnessed β€” some of them doubted.

Not "Is Jesus real?" but maybe something closer to: "Am I really the kind of person who can do what he's asking?"

That kind of doubt is worth naming. Because Jesus gave them the Great Commission anyway β€” right into the middle of their uncertainty.

He does the same for us. πŸ’›

Are you built to sit?

One author wrote that the search for the perfect chair will never end β€” because humans simply aren't built to sit. We're made to walk, to move, to go toward something.

The same is true spiritually. There is something in us β€” body and soul β€” that wilts when we stop moving toward a purpose.

Where is Jesus calling you to go this week? 🚢

Today we remember the men and women who answered a call to go β€” who left the comfort of home and family to serve something larger than themselves. Their sacrifice reminds us that some callings cost everything.

As we remember them today, we also hold the words of Jesus close: "I am with you always, to the end of the age." No one who goes in service β€” whether in uniform or in faith β€” goes alone.
Thank you to all who have served πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ.

If you missed us Sunday, here's the heart of it:
God doesn't ask you to be braver than you are. God asks you to stay close to the One who goes before you.

We wrapped up looking at Joshua 1 and Ephesians 6 β€” the armor of God, the promise of presence, and what courageous leadership looks like right here in Moyock.

This was Week 5 of our series An Adverbial Faith. We'd love to have you join us tomorrow at 10:30 AM β€” in person at 268 Caratoke Highway or online at moyockumc.org.
See you Sunday. πŸ’™

John Wesley didn't just preach about courage β€” he wore it into the streets.

Into the fields and mines and factory towns. Challenging the systems that kept people poor and bound. He understood that the armor of God wasn't just for inside a church building. It was for the world.

That's the inheritance he handed to us.

Our baptism vows call us to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves. That's a courageous vow. And we don't keep it alone.

Join us tomorrow as we worship together! See you at 10:30 am at 268 Caratoke Highway in Moyock!
