Sometimes a small leak is easy to fix. Ignore it long enough, though, and that small leak can become a flood. The same thing can happen with conflict. A hurt we never talk about, an apology we never give, forgiveness we never offer, or a conversation we keep avoiding can slowly change a relationship. What starts small can grow into something that affects a family, a friendship, or even an entire church.
This Sunday at MVCC, we’re continuing through the story of David and looking at what happened when conflict between David and Absalom was never really resolved.
“The Result of Unresolved Conflict” — 2 Samuel 15:7-12
Jesus calls us to something different. He calls us to reconciliation. He calls us to forgive. He calls us to pursue peace with one another. And honestly, this message is for me just as much as for anyone. I don’t always like conflict, and sometimes it’s easier to ignore something and hope it goes away. But Scripture reminds us that we shouldn’t wait until the wound becomes a war.
Maybe there’s a relationship in your life where you need to take the first step. Maybe this Sunday is a good time to let God speak into that.
Come worship with us at Mt. Vernon Christian Church this Sunday. Come as you are, worship with us, open God’s Word with us, and let’s see what God might want to do in our hearts.
We’d love to have you with us!
