I marvel...

So few people these days seem to be able to understand what Jesus is saying about the permanence of marriage...

Matthew 19:6 NKJV
[6] So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

Selah, meditate on this...

Jesus gave a new commandment "Love as I have loved you"
• Is that even possible? Yes it is, and it's not a suggestion it's a commandment.
• I share the testimony of a brother that loved his his wife as she battled cancer.
• There are some good lessons to learn from his testimony and from the scriptures.
• True love isn't concerned with even/fair or what I can get in return. Note the imbalance of true love that Christ modeled and commands us to also walk in true love that "seeketh not her own" 1 Cor 13:5

This is a fairly short and important 25 minute message.
The Merle Yoder testimony is in the first 5-6 minutes.

While we are normally not open on Mondays, we have some special information to share!

A choir based in Hartwell, GA, with members from all over the US will be stopping in at Shalom this morning, and we will be serving them breakfast on their way back to north Georgia.

While we won’t be “open” for food and drink, we do want to invite whoever is interested to join us to listen to a few of their songs!

While times are tentative, feel free to swing by around 11:00 am, or a bit after, as they plan to share some songs. You don’t want to miss this! We look forward to seeing you then!

If we could spend as much effort getting ready for Christ's second coming as we do remembering his first coming...
We love you 👑 Jesus

Our family recently attended a family reunion on the weekend following Thanksgiving. A long time family friend who hadn't spent much time with the family recently was asked to speak for the Sunday service. He made a comment that caught my attention. He said, "There are a lot of you that resemble people I used to know." There is no denying that the family DNA leads to a lot of family resemblances.
💡The thought came to my mind. What about the likeness to the family of God? Do you, do I have the family DNA of kingdom Christianity? Do we resemble the King? One day there will be the greatest family reunion of all time. Won't you plan to be there?

My wife and I recently spent some time in the Northeast for an anniversary trip. We used the opportunity to visit a number of lighthouses in the area. This particular lighthouse is in Portland, Maine and is named the Portland Head Light. There was quite a number of people who were also interested in seeing this particular lighthouse. I spent some time thinking about why the attraction and this is where my thoughts led. If you could attach attributes to a lighthouse, this could be some of the descriptive words. It is a beacon that signifies hope, safety, strength, dependability, and resilience. It warns of danger and offers guidance to safety. It is a beloved sight to sailors who are looking for home. It presents noble thoughts and ideals to mortals thinking about their earthly existence.
That is why it is so fascinating that Jesus said in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world....." He also said to His followers in Matthew 5:14, "You are the light of the world..." We (the children of the King) can represent a safe harbor to a world that is full of hopelessness, danger, weakness, sinfulness, inconsistency, and fragility. It will require us to be anchored in the solid rock of God's Word and present a steady, constant, and consistent light to the World. We know the way home. Be bold and be brave so "you can proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; " I Peter 2:9

We got an updated church family picture this morning. 😍

Isaiah 56:3-8 NLT
[3] “Don’t let foreigners who commit themselves to the Lord say, ‘The Lord will never let me be part of his people.’ And don’t let the eunuchs say, ‘I’m a dried-up tree with no children and no future.’ [4] For this is what the Lord says: I will bless those eunuchs who keep my Sabbath days holy and who choose to do what pleases me and commit their lives to me. [5] I will give them—within the walls of my house— a memorial and a name far greater than sons and daughters could give. For the name I give them is an everlasting one. It will never disappear! [6] “I will also bless the foreigners who commit themselves to the Lord, who serve him and love his name, who worship him and do not desecrate the Sabbath day of rest, and who hold fast to my covenant. [7] I will bring them to my holy mountain of Jerusalem and will fill them with joy in my house of prayer. I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because my Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations. [8] For the Sovereign Lord, who brings back the outcasts of Israel, says: I will bring others, too, besides my people Israel.”
