Where freedom is found not only from substance abuse, but in a renewed identity and purpose in Jesus Christ. Abundant Hope Ministries exists to help individuals have a life-changing encounter, through a relationship with Jesus Christ. To help fulfill this mission, we offer both a male and female certified Addiction Recovery Program through the state of Tennessee. Abundant Hope provides a 12 month,

Christ-centered, residential recovery program for men and women. Through our recovery program, we provide individuals with the spiritual restoration needed to overcome life crippling addictions and prepare them for their personal mission field. We have seen lives changed, homes restored, and nations impacted through the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

This week during worship, the Lord brought together a powerful word through multiple people.

One of our worship leaders shared about becoming an “over thanker.” Then the phrase came to my heart:

The counter for overthinking is becoming an over-thanker.

Right after that, someone read Philippians 4:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
- Philippians 4:6 (BSB)

So many of us spend our lives overthinking. Replaying conversations. Imagining worst-case scenarios. Carrying burdens God never asked us to carry alone.

But Scripture gives us a different pattern:
prayer
petition
thanksgiving
peace

Thanksgiving changes our focus.
Overthinking magnifies problems, but over-thanking magnifies God.

And when we start remembering His faithfulness, His provision, and His goodness, anxiety begins losing its grip.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
- Philippians 4:7 (BSB)

Maybe peace is not found in finally figuring everything out.
Maybe it is found in finally trusting the One who already has.

"The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock."
- Matthew 7:25 (BSB)

Jesus never promised we would avoid storms.
The difference was never the storm… it was the foundation.

Both houses in the parable encountered wind, rain, and floods. But when your life is built on shifting sand, every raindrop steals your peace. Every storm feels devastating because deep down you know what you built your life on cannot hold you.

But when your life is built on a firm foundation, the storm feels different.

You may still have to put up shutters.
You may still feel the wind.
You may still hear the thunder.

But there is rest in knowing the foundation beneath you is secure.

“But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.”
- Matthew 7:26 (BSB)

A solid foundation does not remove storms.
It gives you peace in the middle of them.

What your life is built on will always be revealed when the storm comes.

The Lord just keeps blessing! We are celebrating another huge milestone as one of our students just got her driver’s license!

We are so proud of her hard work, dedication, and commitment to walking in a new life through Jesus Christ. Please continue praying for all of our students as they keep taking steps forward into the future God has for them. 🙌

This Sunday we had the privilege of celebrating two more graduates from Abundant Hope Ministries, Josh and Beth! 🎉

Watching what God has done in their lives over the past year has been incredible. Both Josh and Beth have remained drug free, secured full-time employment, obtained their driver’s license, have their own vehicles, and moved into their own place. These are huge accomplishments that reflect hard work, consistency, accountability, and perseverance.

But more importantly than any earthly accomplishment, both of them now have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

That is what this ministry is truly about. Not just sobriety, but complete life transformation through Christ. Seeing men and women discover purpose, freedom, identity, and hope in Him never gets old.

We are so proud of Josh and Beth and thankful for every mentor, staff member, supporter, church partner, and family member who helped walk beside them during this journey. Thank you for helping make stories like this possible.

Please join us in congratulating Josh and Beth on this incredible milestone! We cannot wait to see what God continues to do in their lives. ❤️

We have a lot to celebrate this week at Abundant Hope Ministries!

Three of our students were able to attend the high school graduations of their loved ones, two celebrating their daughters and one celebrating his nephew. Moments like these may seem simple to some, but for many families impacted by addiction, being present for milestones like this is something that once felt impossible.

We are also celebrating one of our students earning her GED this week! What an incredible accomplishment and another step toward the future God has for her.

This week is a beautiful reminder that God is restoring all that addiction tried to steal. Relationships are being rebuilt, families are being reunited, and hope is being renewed. We are grateful for every victory and every life being transformed through Christ.

Posting this from the Abundant Hope Ministries pages because I know there are a lot of former students from both the ministry and Morristown Covenant Academy that follow along here, and I always love getting the chance to see you all.

On May 24, I’ll (Corey Leatherman) be sharing at Heritage Fellowship Church as part of the teaching team, and this one is especially meaningful to me because during the service we’ll also be celebrating the graduation of two students from Abundant Hope Ministries.

One of the greatest honors of my life is getting to watch the Lord completely transform lives. Seeing men and women walk from addiction, brokenness, and hopelessness into freedom, purpose, and restoration never gets old.

It always means so much to have people come out and support not just me, but the students and the work God is doing through the ministry. Whether you’ve been connected through church, the school, the program, or have simply followed along online, I’d love for you to join us.

Come celebrate what Jesus is doing. These moments matter. ❤️

CoreTalks

I spent time hiking this past weekend with my boys and some of the guys, and it was a great reminder that true contentment is rarely found in the extravagant, but often in the simple.

A trail. A conversation. Laughing with people you love. Being present.

Meanwhile, the world keeps convincing us that contentment is always one purchase away. One upgrade away. One new item, invention, experience, or achievement away.

But discontentment has a way of growing with every new thing we chase. What excites us today often becomes ordinary tomorrow, and the cycle starts again.

Paul said it this way:

“I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances.”
- Philippians 4:11 (BSB)

Contentment is not found in finally having enough.
It is found in finally realizing Jesus is enough.

Most times the richest moments in life are the ones that cost the least.

This is how we feel sliding into the weekend! 🫠

What’s one thing this week that had you feeling exactly like this picture?
Could be work, parenting, recovery, ministry life, or just surviving for the weekend.

We are so thankful for our friends at Mission Morristown for loving on our students in such a meaningful way. Taking the time to provide breakfast may seem simple, but it speaks volumes. It reminds our students that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

Your kindness is not just meeting a physical need, it’s planting seeds of hope and encouragement in lives that are being restored.

Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus and for walking alongside us in this mission. We are truly grateful.
