This week during worship, the Lord brought together a powerful word through multiple people.
One of our worship leaders shared about becoming an “over thanker.” Then the phrase came to my heart:
The counter for overthinking is becoming an over-thanker.
Right after that, someone read Philippians 4:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
- Philippians 4:6 (BSB)
So many of us spend our lives overthinking. Replaying conversations. Imagining worst-case scenarios. Carrying burdens God never asked us to carry alone.
But Scripture gives us a different pattern:
prayer
petition
thanksgiving
peace
Thanksgiving changes our focus.
Overthinking magnifies problems, but over-thanking magnifies God.
And when we start remembering His faithfulness, His provision, and His goodness, anxiety begins losing its grip.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
- Philippians 4:7 (BSB)
Maybe peace is not found in finally figuring everything out.
Maybe it is found in finally trusting the One who already has.
