Peace Free Will Baptist Church

Peace Free Will Baptist Church "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Peace Free Will Baptist Church was founded in November 1985. We are a growing congregation affiliated with the National Association of Free Will Baptists. Free Will Baptist roots can be traced to England as early as 1611. The first Free Will Baptist church in America was begun by Paul Palmer in 1727 in Perquimans County, North Carolina. Some years later, in 1780, under the leadership of Benjamin R

andall, Free Will Baptists were established in the northeast at New Durham, New Hampshire. From these early beginnings, Free Will Baptists in America have had a continuing ministry in the United States and around the world.

Today at The Blue Church, we begin a new series of D6, and we’re going back to the basics.

Before we can answer the big questions of life and faith, we need a firm foundation: What do we believe, and why do we believe it?

Throughout September and October, our Sunday School classes will walk through the essentials of Christian theology. At 9:30, we begin with “The Foundation of Scripture” from 2 Timothy 3:16–17.

Whether you’ve been in church for years or you’re just beginning to explore the Christian faith, there’s a place for you and your family at Peace Free Will Baptist Church, next to Walter’s State in Morristown.

“While children’s church is a wonderful supplement to big church, it is a terrible substitute,” wrote Jen Wilkin in 2021.

“A child old enough for kindergarten can be welcomed into big church with a little loving guidance from a parent determined to disciple.

If it is true that ‘more is caught than taught,’ parents should value modeling worship for their children more than any lesson taught by a children’s church leader.”

This Labor Day weekend, we’re going to take a closer look at one of God’s smallest creatures—and one of Scripture’s most unique teachers.

From Proverbs 6, Pastor Chris Dotson will consider what the ant teaches us about diligence, responsibility, timing, and the power of small acts of faithfulness. You don’t have to be big to be useful, and you don’t have to do everything to do something that matters.

What do you do when someone is hurting—and you know you don’t have all the answers?

In Acts 3, Peter and John encountered a man who had been unable to walk his entire life. They couldn’t give him what he expected, but Peter's response is one of the most helpful statements in Scripture for learning how to care for people: “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee…” (Acts 3:6).

There is freedom in knowing what you CANNOT do. You cannot fix every problem, heal every wound, or have an answer for every crisis. But that doesn’t mean you have nothing to give. God has already placed some things in the hands of every believer: prayer, Scripture, words that can minister grace, the fellowship of the church, and the gift of relationship and presence.

You may not be able to do everything, but you can do something.

Join us on Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM for the second lesson in our FIRST AID READY series.

Peace Free Will Baptist Church is pleased to announce the selection of Chris Dotson as pastor. Following the unanimous recommendation of the pulpit committee, Deacon Ben Eskola announced that the congregation affirmed that recommendation with a unanimous vote following today’s morning service. We are grateful for the clear unity the Lord has given our church in this important moment.

Pastor Chris previously served Peace Church from 1990 to 2019, giving nearly three decades of faithful leadership to this congregation. During the past seven years, while serving as State Director for Tennessee Free Will Baptists, he has remained a member of Peace. His return marks not an attempt to recreate the past, but the beginning of a new season of ministry—one grounded in gratitude for God’s faithfulness and guided by a fresh desire to discern where God is at work in the Lakeway Area and how The Blue Church can join Him in that work.

Pastor Chris will make a gradual transition back to the pastorate through December as he honors his remaining responsibilities as State Director. He and his wife, Rebecca, return to this role with deep love for the church and hopeful anticipation for the days ahead. Together with their family, they look forward to this new chapter and to serving alongside the church family as the Lord continues to lead.

The Blue Church adopted Union Heights Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year. We are praying for the faculty, staff, and students. Today, we delivered some needed supplies to the school nurse, Catie Shaw. Pictured are Catie and Pastor Houk.

This week, The Blue Church headed to the Hope Center Greeneville, where two of our ladies minister to families experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. Brittany Hampton, RN, is the clinical director, and Madison Singleton serves as administrative assistant. We're super thankful for their good work.
