June 3 commemorates the 45 Ugandan martyrs who were executed between 1885 and 1887. St. Charles Lwanga and companions, including 22 Catholics and 23 Anglicans, were killed for their Christian faith. Millions of pilgrims, including many who walk for days to reach the shrine, gather in Namugongo, Uganda each year.

Holy Cross Parish was established on this day in 1964. After over a year of dedicated planning and preparation, the parish was officially dedicated on October 17, 1965. The addition of our parish was sparked by the growth of faith of our community. What a blessing our parish has been to all of us!

The Trinity is One. Each person of the Trinity is fully and wholly God. The Catechism explains:
The Father generates the Son; the Son is generated by the Father; the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son [CCC 48].

Daily prayer for Clergy and Religious

Lord Jesus, hear our prayer for the spiritual renewal of the bishops, priests, deacons, brothers, sisters, lay ministers and seminarians of the diocese of Houma-Thibodaux. We praise You for giving their ministry to the Church. In these days, renew them with the gifts of Your Spirit.

You once opened the Holy Scriptures to Your disciples when You walked on this earth. Now renew your ordained and chosen ones with the truth and power of Your Word.

In Eucharist You gave Your disciples renewed life and hope. Nourish Your consecrated ones with Your own Body and Blood. Help them to imitate in their lives the death and resurrection they celebrate around Your altar.

Give them enthusiasm for the Gospel, zeal for the salvation of all people, courage in leadership and humility in service.

Give them Your love for one another and for all their brothers and sisters in You. For You love them, Lord Jesus, and we love and pray for them in Your Holy Name, today especially for Rev. Patrick Riviere.

In 2018, Pope Francis decreed the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church to be celebrated every year on the Monday after Pentecost. The day is also known as Whit Monday and Monday of the Holy Spirit.

Pentecost, along with Christmas and Easter, ranks among the great feasts of Christianity. It commemorates not only the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and Disciples, but also the fruits and effects of that event. It is the completion of the Easter season and considered the birthday of the Church.
