Washington Reformation UCC

Washington Reformation UCC Worship Services are Sunday at 9:15 a.m. Sunday School follows at 10:30 a.m. Washington Church continues to be a strong and vital presence in rural Monticello.

Washington Reformation UCC is a healthy and growing congregation, lying in the heart of Wisconsin’s dairy country. Our congregation is made up of people young and old, living not only in Washington Township, but in Monticello, Monroe, New Glarus, Belleville, and Albany. Our congregation is a part of the United Church of Christ, a mainline denomination with roots in early colonial Congregationalism

and German and Swiss Reformed Churches. Today, however, we are a diverse fellowship and we seek to reach out to people of all religious backgrounds with the message of God’s love. Washington Church was started by Swiss farmers in 1876. The original building was destroyed by fire in 1965 and the present structure was built in 1967. A Sunday School addition was built in 1980 and an enlargement to the narthex was completed in 2004. Services are held every Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. - all are welcome
Christian Education classes follow worship at 10:30 a.m.

150th Anniversary Team meets next Tuesday at 6PM.

There will be a meeting for Confirmation students and parents Sunday, September 13 following worship.

150TH ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND EVENTS:
Saturday, September 26: 10AM Cemetery Walk, refreshments to follow.
Sunday, September 27: 9:15 Worship with potluck lunch to follow (meat provided) and 1PM Story Telling.

Sunday school and Confirmation will begin on Sunday, October 4 following worship.

We have extra church T-shirts, celebrating our 150th, in the narthex. There are blue or gray in L or XL for $20. You may also order in other colors and sizes with an order form.

A Congregational meeting was held today.

We voted unanimously to go ahead with replacing and upgrading the sound system, including adding speakers to the kitchen and using some existing microphones in the sanctuary.

In order to start to fund this expense, Memorial committee will be directing the Gloria Thoman memorial donation toward the cost.

The challenge has already netted $300 toward the $1,000 match!!
There is also a member challenge to donate, that specific donations, up to a total of $1,000 will be matched.

Other fundraising options are being discussed and suggestions are welcome.

There are handouts at church that detail what the sound system includes.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

There is a 150th Anniversary next Tuesday, August 11 at 6PM.

There is an Ordination Service this Sunday at 3PM for Lisa Hart in Verona. Everyone is welcome to attend.

There will be a congregational on Sunday, August 16 following worship to discuss and vote about upgrades to our sound system. There is information in the narthex.
