Can you still have joy on a day when you went unnoticed, nobody applauded you, nothing new happened, or even on a day that you made a mistake?

That question gets to the root of where we have learned to look for confidence. 1 John 1 connects joy to fellowship with the Father and with Jesus Christ. That means joy is available to the believer, and it does not have to rise and fall with recognition, accomplishments, possessions, or somebody else’s opinion of you.

So enjoy the promotion, thank God for the house, celebrate what you accomplish, and serve faithfully wherever He has placed you. Just keep your heart close enough to Jesus that none of those things have to carry the weight of telling you who you are.🙏🏾

It's interesting how quickly we can recognize what somebody else needs to work on while finding reasons to justify our own behavior.

We see Zacchaeus set a great example for us in Luke 19. After his encounter with Jesus, he made things right with the people he had cheated. His response showed a willingness to address the very area of his life where he had been living dishonestly.

Pay attention to what God is correcting in your own life, and be willing to respond. There's always room to grow when you're serious about following Jesus.🙏🏾

Since when did everybody agreeing with something make it right?👀

We live in a time where people can find somebody to support just about anything they want to believe. You can scroll through social media, listen to a podcast, or sit in a room full of people who agree with you and walk away believing something that Jesus never said.

That's why you have to be careful about building your beliefs around whatever sounds good or feels comfortable. Take time to study Scripture, examine what you're being taught, and develop a relationship with Jesus where what He says has the final say in your life.🙌🏾

Mary needed someone to weep with her.
Thomas needed help with his doubt.
Peter needed restoration.
Zacchaeus needed an invitation.
The Pharisees needed confrontation.

Jesus knew exactly how to meet the person standing in front of Him, and He still does.🙏🏾

Whatever you bring to Him today, you are coming to a Savior who knows you completely and knows exactly how to meet you where you are. ❤️

Are you tired? Come to church. Are you overwhelmed? Come to church. Are you anxious and carrying fear that feels like too much? Come to church.

Are you doing well? Come to church. Did you finally get the answer you have been praying for? Come to church. Is your family healthy, your heart full, and life going better than it has in a long time? Come to church.

You do not have to wait until life falls apart to recognize the value of Christian community. There is a place for your burden, and there is a place for your blessing. Bring both with you this Sunday.🙌🏾

You can be confident about a decision and still be headed in the wrong direction.

We live in a culture that encourages people to trust their instincts and follow their feelings, but as believers, we need to examine what's influencing our decisions. In Joshua 9, Israel's leaders were convinced by the Gibeonites' story, but Scripture tells us they failed to seek counsel from the Lord. What seemed like a reasonable decision turned out to be a costly mistake.

You can have experience, good intentions, and people agreeing with you, but you still need God's wisdom. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust the Lord rather than lean on our own understanding.

Before making your next big decision, spend time in the Word and seek God's direction. Make sure your confidence is grounded in His truth.🙏🏾

Sometimes the answer to your prayer comes with homework...

You can pray for a stronger marriage, but you still need to learn how to communicate when you are frustrated. You can ask God for better health, but you still need to change what you eat or make the appointment you have been putting off. You can pray for your children and still need wisdom from somebody who has raised children through what you are facing.

The truth is that following Jesus reaches into decisions that can feel very mundane. It affects whose advice you trust, what you do with your resources, and whether you are willing to learn something you do not know yet. Even the disciples had to learn how to serve people, handle responsibility, and follow Jesus when His instructions required something from them.

Keep Jesus first, then be willing to do the practical work that obedience requires. Sometimes counting the cost means sitting down with somebody who can help you understand what the next step actually takes.
