Deus Pai corrige os Seus filhos

“Meu filho, não despreze a disciplina do Senhor nem se magoe com a sua repreensão, pois o Senhor disciplina a quem ama, assim como o pai faz ao filho de quem deseja o bem.”
Provérbios 3:11,12

Muito erro tem sido afirmado sobre este assunto. Muitas vezes já ouvi que Deus é amor e como tal Ele não castiga ou não corrige; contudo não é isso que o texto afirma. Na verdade, o texto afirma o oposto, afirma que aquele a quem Deus ama, Ele corrige e isso pela razão desse mesmo amor, o amor que levou Cristo a morrer na Cruz. Tal como um pai terreno que corrige o seu filho quando ele erra. Aqui temos mais um assunto controverso na presente geração, em que a correção é afastada da criança, para dar lugar a terapias sem sentido, necessárias por causa de traumas imaginários. Quando a verdadeira causa de um comportamento errado numa criança é a ausência de correção, necessária por causa da natureza pecaminosa que a criança tem; a qual só pode ser combatida pelo sangue expiatório de Cristo, mas que precisa ser corrigida pelo olhar atento dos pais, os quais recebem do Senhor essa incumbência.

Caro leitor, o texto em estudo adverte a que não desprezemos a disciplina do Senhor, nem que fiquemos magoados com a repreensão divina. Afinal, disciplina e reprensão é uma prova do amor de Deus. Na verdade, devemos nos preocupar se não formos disciplinados nem repreendidos pelo Senhor. Pois dado a que temos uma natureza pecaminosa, que precisa ser corrigida, se não formos corrigidos não é sinal de que está tudo bem, mas sim de que talvez Deus nos abandonou em nosso próprio pecado e que estamos longe do amor de Deus. Que Deus nos ajude a aceitarmos a disciplina do Senhor e que Ele não nos permita estarmos longe de sua repreensão.

God the Father Corrects His Children

“My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.”
Proverbs 3:11–12

Much error has been taught on this subject. I have often heard people say that God is love and, therefore, that He does not punish or correct. However, that is not what the text says. In fact, the text states the opposite: it says that the one whom God loves, He corrects, and He does so precisely because of that same love—the love that led Christ to die on the Cross. Just like an earthly father who corrects his child when he does wrong. Here we have yet another controversial issue in the present generation, in which correction is being taken away from children and replaced with meaningless therapies, supposedly necessary because of imaginary traumas. When the true cause of a child’s wrong behavior is the absence of correction, which is necessary because of the sinful nature the child possesses, that nature can only be dealt with through the atoning blood of Christ, but the child still needs to be corrected through the watchful care of the parents, who have received this responsibility from the Lord.

Dear reader, the passage we are studying warns us not to despise the Lord’s discipline or to become hurt by divine rebuke. After all, discipline and rebuke are evidence of God’s love. In fact, we should be concerned if we are neither disciplined nor rebuked by the Lord. Since we have a sinful nature that needs to be corrected, if we are not corrected, it is not a sign that everything is fine. Rather, it may be a sign that God has abandoned us to our own sin and that we are far from the love of God. May God help us to accept the Lord’s discipline and may He not allow us to be far from His rebuke.
