Discernment

Scripture: Philippians 1:9-10

"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,"

Prayer:
Ask God for discernment in evaluating candidates.

The scripture passage in Philippians was written by the Apostle Paul while in a prison cell.

Paul's prayer for the church of Philippi is the same for us today!

He desires for us to be in the knowledge of God's grace through Jesus Christ and be constantly seeking the wisdom and insight of God to make the best decisions.

But where do we find wisdom? Insight? Knowledge?

God's Word = the Bible.
Psalm 119:105: "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."

Proverbs 30:5: "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him."

Prayer = conversations with God.

When we know the heart of God, as he proves throughout the Bible, we know the good that he has planned for us, and we can better discern what is good in the life of our church body and for ourselves.

Try reading over the scripture passage this week. Even the whole chapter 1 of Philippians.

Pray for discernment and wisdom that His desires for Cultivate Community Church become our clear desires. And that those evaluating candidates can have clear discernment over which ones to advance, release, or wait for more.

AND as the Hymn sings,

"Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, and I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one"

Acts 20:32 "And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the...

Acts 20:32
"And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified."

As the Apostle Paul transferred his ministry to the church leaders in Ephesus, so too does Pastor Ryan O'Malley transfer Cultivate into the hands of the elders and church leadership as we continue to pray for a new pastor for Cultivate.

Cultivate Community Church has been blessed to have been led well by Pastor O'Malley.

From his time with Pursuit Church working dominantly with college students to his time at Cultivate, Ryan has been planting churches. The faithfulness in continuing to answer the call to reach the lost comes with both sorrow and joy.

Ryan's message to us reminds us where to find our identity and strength in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ -- the one who sanctifies us and his Word which trains us up. It was also a joyful day for baptisms...including a spouse team.

The heartfelt sermon was encouraging and the prayers surrounding the whole O'Malley family will ease this transition.

Praying for the O'Malley family, the Elders, and the Cultivate Community Church body.

Axe Man Award Winners...

Our church brought 17 men to Man Camp this year! Based on the size of our church body, our group size was one of two of the largest, so they earned the "Axe Man Award".

This is a great accomplishment!!!

But it pales in comparison knowing what it took to get them there in the first place.

🪓There was fundraising to make it possible to get there.
🪓Households were short a member for the weekend.
🪓Schedules were adjusted to make this trip a priority.
🪓Facing the fear of signing up for something that could be life-changing.

IT. WAS. ALL. WORTH. IT!

Here's why:
This impact story came from one of the men from the group.

When asked: How did Jesus meet you and equip you for a stronger faith, family, & future? One man replied,

“To be more present with my wife and kids and to lead in prayer which I’ve done every day since man camp. I also had a moment during quiet time while I was in prayer where I felt like the Lord loves me idk how to explain it lol but I was a great moment for me. “

🪓This is the best award. 🪓

A really cool axe and great memories doesn't hurt though either. 😉

Want to be part of connecting and better leading your household with God's guidance?

Patience and Endurance

Scripture:
Isaiah 40:31 "but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."

Pray:
*For patience and endurance as the search continues.
*Find hope in the Lord who renews our strength.

HOPE is thrown around so easily these days...

I hope the weather will be nice.
I hope all my efforts are fruitful.
I hope to get a good night's rest.
I hope I remembered to unplug the toaster.

The reality is that although the word HOPE is used, it is for SO MUCH MORE!

It must have genuine substance. It must have a firm foundation.

Sure we can hope for good outcomes, but the outcomes are insignificant without placing our hope in the one who made it. There is security and strength in knowing who designed and gives hope. When we know where the true source of hope comes from, we can walk with confidence that HE WILL PROVIDE all that is needed to endure the challenges ahead.

We cannot help but think of Christ who with patient endurance went to the cross for us! Who joyfully endured the suffering to know that there was now HOPE for us! A certainty of salvation that had not been available before.

As we reflect and pray over this scripture, offer to the Lord where you need renewal. Where you need strength. Where you need his endurance.

AND confidently put your HOPE in the Lord for his LOVE for you and his church endures forever.

Each of these young lives have come this far thanks to the Lord and the prayers of his people.

Many a night parents prayed over their futures and well-being. It doesn't end at graduation.

Please continue to lift up each of these young people and their families as they make transitions.

May these graduate remember WHOSE they are as they work to become world changers.

May these verses be solid reminders to our graduates and their families:

Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Colossians 3:23-24
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

Romans 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Numbers 6:24-26
"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace." '

Dr. Jake Rainwater brought the message today from Mark 5.🙌

Two stories that may seem unrelated carry an incredible connection.

Three parts to the message:
1. Weight of Holiness
2. Watch Holiness Overcome
3.Touch Holiness

God doesn't want to be kept at arms length from us.

His tabernacle was in our midst and as in Mark 5 Jesus is in the midst of ritualistic uncleanliness of the Jewish people.

He doesn't shy away; he embraces His children. He steps forward and into our messes and calls us his own!

Our sin doesn't stand a chance when we let His holiness enter! 🙌 Hallelujah!
