St. Joseph has five amazing associate ministers that serve alongside our Pastor. Each of them possess different gifts and calls. They serve boldly in their respective areas and are lifelong learners of the Word. This month our congregation was encouraged to love on them and show appreciation for their gift and call to serve at St. Joseph. Help us celebrate the outstanding clergy the has given to St. Joseph Baptist Church.

💛🗣️✝️ Minister Sharon (Dea. Orlando) Boyd was called into ministry in the late 90’s. She walked fully in her calling in 2023 when she officially did her initial sermon on January 8, 2023 becoming the first women licensed at St. Joseph Baptist Church. She currently serves in the choir/praise team and is a co-leader over the Women’s Ministry.

💛🗣️✝️ Minister Rebecca (Dea. Sim) Carson recently reunited with us last month. She grew up in St. Joseph and returned after she and Dea. Carson married. We are excited to see how the Lord will continue to use her at St. Joseph.

💛🗣️✝️ Evangelist Jeanette Douglas has served in ministry the longest. She was licensed in 80’s when she was living in New Jersey. She leads our noonday pray call Monday-Friday and assists in the Adult Women Sunday School Class.

💙🗣️✝️ Reverend Darren (Jasmine) Jackson answered his call to ministry in 2020. He has been a faithful servant, even before he began his preaching ministry. He currently serves as a Sunday School teacher with the youth and a co-leader over the Outreach and Men’s Ministries.

💙🗣️✝️ Minister Vern (Georgia) O’Cain joined us at St. Joseph as an ordained deacon and since uniting with us he was called into the ministry in 2023 and did his initial sermon on January 8, 2023. He’s a small group leader and one of our Sunday School teachers in the Male Bible Class.

💙🗣️✝️ Reverend Jimmie (Gracie) Staples has been in ministry for nearly 30 years and has served in many capacities prior to joining St. Joseph. He currently leads our Midday Manna Bible Study on Wednesdays afternoon.

This name exposes two opposite struggles. Some of us cannot receive it. We are still trying to pay off a debt Jesus already paid, carrying guilt over a sin God has forgiven and replaying it like the receipt was never stamped. Others of us lean the other way. We are quietly keeping score, measuring our faithfulness against other people’s, and feeling pretty good about the comparison.
Ask yourself: Am I still trying to earn a standing with God that He has already given me in Christ? Is there a sin I have confessed but refuse to let Him remove from my record? Or is there a place where I have been trusting my own record, my attendance, my giving, my years of service, more than His righteousness? And where has the righteousness I have received not yet shown up in the way I live?

Some of us have been drinking bitter water so long we have stopped asking God to sweeten it. We have learned to manage the wound instead of bringing it to the Healer: an old church hurt, a betrayal in the family, a diagnosis, a disappointment that turned into cynicism, a memory that still flinches when touched.
Ask yourself: What wound have I kept covered so long that I no longer even pray about it? Have I let God near it, or have I only let Him near the parts of me that are already healthy? Is there a “tree” He has already shown me, an act of forgiveness, a confession, a conversation, a step of obedience, that I have not yet thrown into the water?
