What if you've been living like a slave... when God has already made you a son?

Many people spend their lives trying to earn God's approval.

Trying harder.
Doing more.
Carrying guilt.
Checking religious boxes.

But what if the Gospel isn't about earning your place in God's family?

What if it's about receiving what Christ has already accomplished?

This Sunday at HIBC, we'll explore Galatians 4:1-20 and discover a powerful truth:

Christ did not save us to leave us in bo***ge. He redeemed us from slavery and adopted us into the family of God.

The Apostle Paul asks a heartbreaking question:

"How can you turn back again to the weak and worthless principles of the world?"

Why return to chains when Christ has set you free?

Why live like an employee trying to earn favor when God has welcomed you as His child?

Because of Jesus:

✓ You are no longer a slave to sin.
✓ You are no longer trying to earn God's acceptance.
✓ You are no longer defined by your failures.
✓ You are adopted, loved, and called an heir of God.

"And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, 'Abba! Father!'" — Galatians 4:6

Join us this Sunday as we celebrate the freedom, security, and joy that belong to every believer in Christ.

What if the greatest threat to your faith isn't what you don't know... but what you refuse to obey?

Most people know more Bible than they actually live.

We know we're supposed to pray.
We know we're supposed to forgive.
We know we're supposed to trust God.
We know we're supposed to share the Gospel.

The question isn't, "Have you heard the truth?"

The question is: What are you doing with it?

This Wednesday night, we'll examine one of the most searching questions Jesus ever asked:

"Why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I tell you?" (Luke 6:46)

Jesus isn't interested in empty religion.
He's not impressed by church attendance alone.
He's not looking for people who simply know His words.

He's looking for disciples who obey them.

In Luke 6:43-49, Jesus compares our lives to two houses. Both hear His words. Both face storms. Only one stands.

The difference isn't knowledge.
The difference is obedience.

Join us as we continue our series "Hard Questions Jesus Asked" and discover why small acts of obedience today build the spiritual foundation you'll need tomorrow.

Come ready to examine your foundation.
Come ready to hear God's Word.
Come ready to ask yourself the hard question:

If Jesus is truly Lord, what has He told me to do that I've been putting off?

Are You Carrying a Faith Built on Performance… or a Promise Built on Grace?

You can go to church.
Read your Bible.
Pray every day.
Serve faithfully.

…and still secretly believe God only loves you when you “measure up.”

But what if salvation was never about your performance in the first place?

This Sunday, we’re walking through Epistle to the Galatians 3:15–29 and discovering the life-changing truth of the Gospel:

➡️ The Law exposes our sin.
➡️ Grace provides our Savior.
➡️ Adoption into God’s family comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

The promise was already signed by God Himself.
Jesus did not come to make salvation possible for good people.
He came to rescue sinful people who could never save themselves.

You will never “measure up” to earn God’s favor… and that’s exactly why Jesus came.

“But God gave it to Abraham by a promise.” — Galatians 3:18

This Sunday, we’ll look at what it means to be adopted by grace, freed from the burden of trying to save ourselves, and brought into the family of God through faith in Christ alone.

Bring a Friend. Bring your Bible. Come hear the good news of the Gospel.

We missed last week due to a power outage, so join us this week, when we look at the questions...

“Do you want to be healed?”
It sounds like an easy question…
But what if it’s not?
In John 5:1–9, Jesus looks at a man who had been suffering for 38 years and asks him a question that cuts straight to the heart.
Not: *“What happened to you?”*
Not: *“Who hurt you?”*
But: **“Do you want to be healed?”**
Because sometimes we get comfortable in what’s broken.
Sometimes we make excuses.
Sometimes we’ve waited so long, we stop believing change is even possible.
This Wednesday night at Hollinger’s Island Baptist Church, we’re tackling one of the hard questions Jesus asked—and it might be more personal than you expect.

👉 Do you really want change?
👉 Do you really want freedom?
👉 Do you really want Jesus to step into that area of your life?

Come ready for an honest conversation and a powerful time in God’s Word.
