Today, Rebeca Leah Juarez Cantu reminded us that idolatry doesn’t always look like a statue or a shrine. Sometimes it looks like our phones, relationships, approval, entertainment, comfort, or anything else that begins to take the place that belongs to God.
In Acts 14, Paul and Barnabas refused the praise of the crowd and pointed everything back to the living God. And even after Paul was stoned, dragged outside the city, and left for dead, he got back up and continued the mission.
Because following Jesus doesn’t mean we will avoid pressure.
“We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.” — Acts 14:22
Gold is refined through fire.
Oil comes through pressing.
And sometimes God uses pressure to produce something in us that comfort never could.
The question for us today is:
Who reigns?
What has our attention?
What has our devotion?
What are we unwilling to surrender?
May Jesus remain at the center, and may we have the faith to keep walking even when following Him costs us something. 🤍
