Our Lady of the Woods Shrine Restoration Our Lady of the Woods Shrine was completed and dedicated on 9/4/1955. The Our Lady of the Woods Shrine was constructed between 1953 and 1955.

The Shrine is on the last phase of a major restoration project and we hope to have everything finished in 2026. Community members worked together to build and fund this breathtaking structure. The Shrine is a peaceful and beautiful place to stop for many tourists passing through Mio. Over the years, the weather has deteriorated the limestone structure. Work towards restoring and maintaining the Sh

rine is ongoing as donations make each step of progress possible. It is a costly project to save and restore this beautiful Shrine, and we are thankful for everyone who has given to our project thus far.

The most updated pics of the Shrine Restoration with Sean and Marvin showing some of their handiwork. This crew is so AWESOME! They have been working in the heat, some days really hot, they worked on a holiday, when we have a tour, they will stop using noisy power tools until the tours are done so as not to disturb them, they clean up really well every night so it's good and no tripping hazards. Great job guys!!!

We had one of our quicker tour groups (Stop & Go), they are here for a short time to get a quick tour, some cookies and coffee and a bathroom break. Of course, the St. Mary Welcome Committee is always Top Notch and ready to make their stop the Best it can be!

Today, our tour group at the Shrine was from Nouvel Catholic Central Schools. A group of their elementary kids came for Mass, Taco bar lunch, a visit to the Gift shop and then different tours of the Shrine. It was a full day. We will see them next year!!!
