Coming to LifePoint this Sunday AND Monday: THIS Sunday, we're welcoming Dr. Phil Tallon — Dean of the School of Christian Thought at Houston Christian University — to preach at LifePoint, the following evening, he's leading a two-hour Theological Intensive that we think is going to be one of the more unique conversations we've ever hosted.
The topic: Horror, Evil, and the Christian Story.
Good horror doesn't trivialize evil — it forces us to stare at it. Whether it's the cosmic dread of Alien, the corrupted humanity of Dracula, or the quiet terror of something simply beyond our control, the horror genre has always been asking theological questions: What is evil? What are the limits of human power? What does it actually take to be saved?
These aren't fringe questions. They sit at the heart of Christian faith.
Dr. Tallon earned his doctorate at the University of St Andrews, where he studied theology, imagination, and the arts. He's the author of The Poetics of Evil and The Absolute Basics of the Christian Faith — and he brings serious scholarship paired with the kind of clarity that makes hard ideas accessible.
This is not a lecture designed to give you nightmares. It's designed to help you think more clearly about evil, more confidently about hope, and more deeply about why the Christian story offers a resolution that no monster movie can.
Sunday morning, May 31st he preaches. Monday evening, June 1st he teaches. Both are worth your time — but the intensive is where the real conversation happens. Space is limited, so grab your spot now and bring someone who thinks faith can't handle hard questions. This one proves otherwise.
