Est: 7/13/1910 The Secular Franciscan Order (OFS) was founded by St.

Francis of Assisi in 1221 for lay people who wanted join him in his commitment to radical Gospel living, penance, and lifelong interior conversion. The Order is a community of Catholic men and women who live and work in the world while seeking to pattern their lives in imitation of Christ in the spirit of St. Francis. Members may be single or married. While our brothers and sisters make a public

profession to live the Gospel, we do not profess vows or live in community as members of religious orders do. Rather, Secular Franciscans live gospel values in their homes, at work, and in society – hence, our secular charism. Secular Franciscans are organized into groups called fraternities. Our fraternity was established in 1910 and is bonded to the Conventual Franciscan friars of St. Bonaventure Province. Members gather once a month for fellowship and ongoing formation at the parish center of St. Josaphat Basilica in Milwaukee, WI. We meet on the second Saturday of each month from 9:00 - 11:00 am. We currently number 42 professed brothers and sisters and have 5 candidates in formation. If you think you might be interested in living your life based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and in the example of St. Francis, please contact us or join us at a gathering. We would love to meet you and explore the possibilities!

The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development announces the theme chosen by Pope Leo XIV for the 2026 celebration of the World Day of Prayer ...

One of the expressions we use in ordinary speech always moved Francis profoundly whenever he heard it, and that was, “For the love of God.” As soon as he would hear these words, they would excite him, work upon him, and enkindle him, as if an inner chord had been plucked by them. And he kept faithfully till his death the promise he made to himself when he was still living a worldly life, that he would never refuse a poor person who begged anything “for the love of God.” He used to say, “How greatly we should love the very love with which God has loved us so much.” (Celano, Second Life, 196)

Monday Message to and from Youth and Young Adults

"The human family is, in a certain sense, the icon of the Trinity because of the love between its members and the fruitfulness of that love." (Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI)

Social Doctrine teaches us that the human person, made in the image of the Triune God, possesses inviolable rights and an intrinsic dignity, which belongs to everyone without distinction. For this reason, writes that "the human person always remains the 'way for the Church' and the heart of every authentic path of integral human development" (MH 48-50). ❤️

When I reflect on Article 9, several Gospel passages come to mind. One is found in the Gospel of Luke, when Mary responds to the angel’s message: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord…
