How can we honor Labor Day with a Spiritual Perspective...

As we commemorate Labor Day, a day dedicated to the hard work and contributions of individuals, let's take a moment to reflect on the spiritual aspects of our labor. Our efforts can be a way of serving God and others, reflecting His love through our actions.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

Every task, whether big or small, can be an opportunity to demonstrate faithfulness, dedication, and love. When we work with integrity and excellence, we are not just serving our employers or clients, but we are also serving our heavenly Father. Our labor becomes an offering to Him.

What happens when we make Jesus the priority? Unity follows.

This Sunday, Pastor Derek continued our journey through 1 Corinthians, looking at a church that had allowed personalities and preferences to create division. Some identified with Paul, others with Apollos or Peter. Paul brought them back to one simple truth: none of those men saved them. Jesus did.

The same reminder matters for the Church today. We can be thankful for pastors, teachers, leaders, ministries, and people who have impacted our faith, but Christ alone deserves our worship and allegiance.

Paul asks in 1 Corinthians 1:13, “Has Christ been divided?”

We are one body. We have one Savior. And we have one Gospel to proclaim.

When Jesus becomes greater than our preferences, personalities, and opinions, we can encourage one another, build one another up, and walk together in unity.

So what are we making most important?

May Millington First always be a church where Jesus is exalted above everything else because prioritizing Jesus preserves unity.

"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved." — Acts 4:12
