“Taste & See”

Psalm 34:8-9

The passage promises that those who honor God will "lack nothing" or "have no want". This highlights that while God may not grant every superficial whim, He completely satisfies the deepest spiritual and physical needs of His followers.

“We’ve Got the Power, Why Aren’t We Witnessing?”

Acts 1:1-8

Acts 1:1-8 serves as the transition between the Gospels and the early Church. It recounts the resurrected Jesus commanding his disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the Holy Spirit. It culminates in verse 8, acting as the structural thesis for the rest of the book: promising supernatural empowerment to spread the Gospel worldwide.

Acts 1:8 emphasizes two things we need to know:

1) The Holy Spirit empowers disciples,

and

2) Spirit-filled disciples witness about Jesus around the world.

Sunday, May 3

“Untamable Tongue”

James 3:1-12

James 3:1-12 warns that teachers are held to a higher standard of judgment and highlights the difficulty of controlling the tongue, which is compared to a small fire that can cause great destruction. While humans can tame animals, the tongue is described as an untamable, poisonous, and destructive force that can produce both blessing and cursing.

The passage suggests that the tongue is a "heart problem". The ultimate goal is to have a heart transformed by the Holy Spirit, resulting in speech that builds up rather than destroys.

“What Is God Worth To You?”

Malachi 3:6-12

Malachi 3:6-12 (NIV) contains a divine message urging the Israelites to return to God by bringing the full tithe into the storehouse. God promises to open the floodgates of heaven and pour out immense blessings, protecting them from pests and ensuring agricultural prosperity, challenging them to test His faithfulness in this.

Many interpretations link this to the principle of faithful stewardship and generosity.

Remember, God Cares For You”

1 Kings 17:7-16

1 Kings 17:7-16 recounts Elijah being sent by God to Zarephath after his water source dried up. He commands a poor, starving widow to feed him first, promising that God will not let her flour or oil run out. She obeys, and her supply miraculously lasts throughout the drought, providing for her, her son, and Elijah.

The passage highlights the necessity of trusting God even in unconventional circumstances, such as moving to enemy territory or giving away the last of one's resources
