We're in the middle of our sermon series called "Creature Feature" where we explore monsters of the Bible, their symbols, and what those symbols mean for us today.

In part 1, we discussed living skeletons. Part 2 was about sea monsters, and tonight at 6:30pm in Bearded Ax Brewery we'll explore the topic of demons 😈 and strategies for conquering their influence in our lives.

We may or may not have watched too much Alice in Wonderland lately and decided to do a 4-part event for the church centered around it.

1. Scarecrow in the Midlothian Scarecrow Festival at Founder's Row, happening now-the beginning of November.
2. Midlothian Heritage Days booth on Oct 31st from 10am-4pm.
3. Special Halloween display on Country Hills Dr in Midlothian on Halloween night.
4. And of course, the finale - Night of Wonder on November 2nd at 6:30pm. It'll be a special time of food, games, and prizes for a post-Halloween party full of fun and whimsy. Dressing up is allowed, but not required.

We are not a flashy church. We've substituted the show and performance for authenticity and relationship. At Ember Co. Church, it's ok to be vulnerable and it's ok to just sit in the corner and process.

We are not here to entertain you, and if that's why you go to church, you might be disappointed with us. What we do offer, however, is place to simmer down, unplug, and connect with God and others. If that sounds like something you can vibe with, join us Monday nights at 6:30pm inside Bearded Ax Brewery

We're hosting a Meet & Greet this Sunday from 4-6pm at Bearded Ax Brewery . Pick up a drink ticket (1 per person for 1 alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage) at the Ember Co. Church table on the patio, and meet some of our crew. We hope to see you there!

At Ember Co. Church, we believe that God's heart is inclined toward mercy. In the New Testament, Paul is a shining example of this belief. He was a genocidal manic. When God extended mercy to him, he was radically transformed. Instead of letting his anger and prejudice run wild, he spent his time disciplining himself to be more like Jesus, and eventually learned to show other people mercy, as a result.

In a world too eager to cancel friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, etc., let us learn to cancel the hate in our hearts so we can extend mercy, too. It's a far more effective way of being the hands and feet of Jesus.

At Ember Co. Church, you don't have to try to be someone you're not. If you wanna rock the shoulder-padded power suits, neon spandex, or acid-wash jeans, you do you. As long as you're being authentic, we're all for it. But being artificial isn't really our jam. If that's not your jam either, come hang out with us on Monday nights inside Bearded Ax Brewery at 6:30pm and see what we're about.

Ember Co. Church is meeting tonight at 6:30pm at Bearded Ax Brewery in Downtown Midlothian. We'll be going over Part 10 of our series called, "Foundations" titled, "God's Kingdom is Active Now". And my beautiful wife, Christina, will be teaching.
