JUNE ☀️ A new month, a slower rhythm, and a fresh invitation to bring it all to the Lord.

If you’re opening your prayer journal this month and wondering where to begin, here are 5 prayer prompts to add to your list:

1. Those grieving the loss of a dad
2. Leaning into the slower pace of summer
3. Safety for those traveling
4. A deepened prayer life
5. Strengthened families

June can hold a lot: Father’s Day joy, celebrations, and grief, summer transitions, travel plans, kids home from school, full calendars, quiet mornings, and the desire to not let the season pass us by in a blur.

So this month, let’s bring it all to God. The tender places. The joyful places. The unknowns. The people we love. The rhythms we’re craving. The prayers we’ve been carrying quietly.

Save this post for your June prayer journal setup, and share it with a friend who wants to be more intentional in prayer this month.

“As we face huge problems as a culture and a church, it’s tempting to look to big things for big solutions: national elections, mass movements, revolution, a spectacular revival, some intensely viral online message.”

But Tish Harrison Warren suggested last year that “the work we need to do is the slow—and long, risky, and uncertain—work of repair.”

“In our work, friendships, homes, and neighborhoods, we can take up the challenge of building something solid, slow, and enduring—something that can witness to Jesus and his kingdom, a kingdom not captive to American politics in any way.

The daily work of becoming a new kind of people, a people marked by the mercy, grace, love, and humility of Jesus, is the work that must start again today and tomorrow and the day after that.”

So grateful for sunshine today and a visit to the Griggs home which has served the NMBC church for many years and was purchased in 1994 for full time use as housing, meetings, Sunday School and many social gatherings. The old timers remember the best molasses cookies made by Mrs. Griggs (Deborah Roberts Griggs) which she freely gave to those of us at youth choir practices every week. God has been gracious by providing such support and sacrifice from this family since 1854.

May is full. Full of endings, beginnings, celebrations, grief, big feelings, and people we love carrying things we may never see. Here are a few prayer prompt ideas to add to your journal this month:

Pray for the friend grieving Mother’s Day without her mom.
Pray for the teacher who has poured out all year long and is finishing tired.
Pray for the friend quietly hoping for a baby while the world around her feels full of pregnancy announcements.
Pray for the graduate stepping into something new, exciting, and unknown.
Pray for our military and military families, for protection, peace, and strength in the sacrifices so many of us never see.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause long enough to remember the people around us and bring them to God.

Save this for your May journal setup, or send it to a friend who loves fresh prayer ideas.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do… is step back. Not out of weakness, but out of wisdom. You don’t have to stay where you’re drained, where your peace is constantly tested, or where your spirit feels heavy. Even Jesus stepped away to be alone and pray.. 🙏 “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” — Mark 6:31

Protecting your peace is not selfish… it’s stewardship of your soul. If you need help slowing down and reconnecting with God, we’ve created devotionals and peaceful worship playlists to guide you. Linked on our page. 💜

When the world feels heavy, this is where we begin. Not with fear or noise, but with prayer. This week, may we lean into wisdom over reaction, courage over fear, and love over division. May our hearts stay soft, our eyes stay fixed on Jesus, and our hope remain anchored in the truth that He is near. Even in uncertain times, God is still at work healing, restoring, and drawing hearts back to Himself.
