Thank You Masses Begin This Weekend

Fr. Brian Mason begins as our new Good Shepherd pastor on June 16. That means it’s time to say “Thank You” to our outgoing parish director and assisting priests.

Although these will not be the final Masses for our assisting priests (they will preside June 13-14 as well), next weekend we will honor each for their service to Good Shepherd:

4:30 PM Mass on Sat June 6 for Fr. Peter Drenzek

9:30 AM Mass on Sun June 7 for Fr. Dennis Lewis

The following weekend will be the final Masses for our Good Shepherd Parish Director Deacon Sandy Sites. We will honor him at his last 9:30 AM Mass in this unique role on Sunday June 14.

Following all these Masses, we will have hospitality and a meet-and-greet in Daniels Hall with food and refreshments.

Merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity, we come to You now with our prayers.

The Trinity is a sign of sacred unity. We pray for one, holy catholic church. As such, we pray for a church where all people of all faiths can gather without fear and give You praise. We pray.

St. Paul reminds us to “mend our ways, encourage one another, and to live in peace”. For peace on earth we pray.

The Trinity is a mystery. The fact that many in our world suffer, while many others are filled with greed and consumerism, is also a mystery. Our faith calls us to care for the least among us. We pray.

Moses invited God to accompany the people on a difficult journey. We invite You today, all powerful God, to accompany all in this community who are sick and suffering. Receive them, and their care givers, as Your own. We pray.

We remember those who have recently died, especially Harlow Wilford and Lorie Ramsey. We pray also for all who are grieving. We call to mind all whose names are inscribed on our Memorial Board. We offer special intention for Good Shepherd Parish and Mark Wagner. May these, and all the faithful departed, rest now forever in unity in the communion of saints. We pray.

We have spoken Lord, and because You love us - we know You have listened. We thank and praise You Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Amen

Creator God,
Send Out Your Spirit and Renew the Face
of the Earth
Psalm 104 is deliberately patterned after the story of creation. Pentecost’s psalm of praise switches between the hopeful petition, “Creator God, send out your Spirit!” and a joy-filled acclaim for God’s life-giving care for creation. God’s Spirit is an agent of renewal. We appreciate God’s wondrous works, express hope that our song will please God, and that the Spirit will be like the breath God gave Adam and Eve and bring all humanity to new life – to renew us and all creation. We ask God to pour forth the Spirit into our lives and the life of the Church.
I will bless you, my God! You are great indeed!
How fertile your genius!
You shape each thing,
you fill the world with what you do.
You steal their breath, they drop back into dust.
Breathe into them, they rise;
the face of the earth comes alive!
Let God’s glory endure
and the Almighty delight in creating.
Let my song give joy to God who is a joy to me.

Let us unite now in prayer, as the disciples did on the first Pentecost, and invoke the very same Holy Spirit.

That the Holy Spirit empower our Church to preach the Gospel of Christ to people of every race, language, and culture. We pray.

That the Holy Spirit of Peace may unite and reconcile the peoples and nations of the earth, bringing an end to war, hatred, and injustice. We pray.

That the Holy Spirit may renew the face of the earth and make it a place where the environment is protected, the poor are fed, and every life is respected and protected. We pray.

That the Holy Spirit bring comfort and healing power to the sick and suffering, and strengthen those who take care of them. We pray.

That Lane Lee, experience the Sacraments of Initiation received so that he may model the ways of Christ. We pray.

We pray for all in our Order of Christian Initiation for Adults process at Good Shepherd and Confirmed at the Cathedral: Jessica Lee, Robin Kwaterski, Breanna Neinhaus. We pray.

We remember those who have recently died, especially Fred Weber, Mary Kult, and Lorie Ramsey. We pray for who all who grieve. We also pray for all whose names are inscribed on our Memorial Board. On this Memorial Day Weekend, we pray for all who have given their life in service toward the common good. May these, and all the faithful departed, rest now in peace. We pray.

Loving God, having heard our prayers, send now your Spirit into our hearts, into our lives, and into our world. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Memorial Day Prayer

God of power and mercy,
you destroy war and put down earthly pride.
Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears,
that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters.
Keep in your mercy those men and women
who have died in the cause of freedom
and bring them safely into your kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this though Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
