Our Parish Director’s Fingerprint on Good Shepherd
For fourteen years, Deacon Sandy Sites has been a steady, compassionate, and faith-filled Parish Director for Good Shepherd Parish. As he enters retirement, Pastoral Council invites us all to reflect on the countless ways he has enhanced our parish life through his ministry, his compassion, and his love for God and all God’s people.
In a parish our size, Sandy’s fingerprint has been laid on almost anything that happens around here. Whether preaching a joyful homily at weekly Mass, offering comfort and hope during our lowest moments, or celebrating a Sacrament with us – as he has for me personally, helping plan and assisting with both of my kids’ First Communion celebrations! - he’s brought a warmth that made every encounter feel personal. It’s likely each of us at the parish has our own example, perhaps for you it was a Baptism, or wedding, or loved one’s funeral.
Beyond his liturgical and sacramental roles, Deacon Sandy’s fingerprint is on the spirit and identity of Good Shepherd. Just as with his own garden at home, his leadership has cultivated and grown the warm, welcoming environment of our parish. He has guided us through the COVID shutdown to become an even better community because of it. He has encouraged so many of us toward outreach to our community with works of faith, enhanced our spiritual growth, and inspired us to live the Good News daily.
As he moves into retirement, we celebrate not only his years of service but the fingerprints that will remain with us: a stronger, more vibrant, and growing parish community! Though his role as parish director comes to an end, we are grateful he will remain a part of the Good Shepherd family as our deacon.
We offer our blessings for well-deserved relaxation, family time, and continued service to God. Thank you, Deacon Sandy, and “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
