Prerequisite: Open to all Vajrayana students.

The Rain of Blessings by Mipham the Great (1846–1912) is a devotional practice that helps us open our hearts to the wisdom and learning of those who have proceeded before us on the Buddhist path. Mipham Rinpoche’s Rain of Blessings is a Vajrayana Buddhist guru yoga practice, also often referred to as A Guru Yoga Combined with the Seven-Line Supplication.

This is a good way to start the new year by clearing up obstacles, generating merit to fulfill one’s wishes, and deepening our understanding of the Vajrayana’s view, meditation, and action. This guru yoga practice is considered an extraordinary skillful means that ripens and liberates the practitioner into the realization of their own enlightened being.

On September 22 and 23, 2009, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama visited Memphis, TN where he received the International Freedom Award from the National Civil Rights Museum. During his two day visit he gave a public talk on "Developing Peace and Harmony." Memphis political leaders declared September 22 and 23 as Memphis Peace and Harmony Days. At that time the founder of Pema Karpo Meditation Center, Khenpo Gawang Rinpoche, made a commitment to honor the visit of His Holiness by creating an annual festival of peace and harmony.
