Pentecost at the Porch
This year, the day of Pentecost falls on Sunday, May 24. Each year, 50
days after Easter, the Church remembers the story of its beginnings: the
sweeping, rushing wind of the Spirit, the chaos and confusion, as well as
the summons to get out of its gathering place and scatter into the world
to serve as witnesses to the heart, mind, and spirit of Jesus.
This year, we are getting out of the sanctuary and gathering at The Front
Porch for worship on the day of Pentecost. This will be a more casual
service and will also include a celebration of the Lord’s Supper, followed
by a “birthday party” for the Church.
Wear red (symbolizing the fire of the Spirit burning in the hearts of
those early Jesus followers) and join us! Sunday school classes
will meet in their usual places at 9:00, but dismiss a little early to
allow time for everyone to move out and over to the Porch for
this special day of worship.
