Children’s Summer Sunday School
Super Moses Brothers: Moses, Aaron & The Exodus
Many of us know the story of Moses and the Exodus. But we may lose sight of the fact that Moses' big brother was there, serving and helping every step of the way. This summer our children will learn about the amazing adventure of Aaron and his little brother, Moses. We will discover how Moses and Aaron followed God and guided the Israelites out of Egypt. It will be an amazing summer adventure as we learn through Bible verses, songs, skits and games!

Brick by Brick: Conversations for Youth and Parents
On Wednesdays throughout the summer, youth and parents will gather to learn, share, and consider how to build a youth ministry that understands and meets the spiritual needs of the current and next generation, Gen Alpha. Using findings from Fuller Youth Institute’s research on Gen Alpha, youth and parents will have separate conversations about the six key insights from the study.
Following their separate conversations, the youth and parents will join and share with one another what they have learned. Conversations will take place July 8, 15, and 22.
Please pray for these discussions and how God can use these insights to help our church build a second home for our youth. Brick by brick.

2BC Featured in Recent Podcast
Recently, Second Baptist Church was featured in an episode of the podcast, “What’s Good” with Brian Foreman. "What's Good" is a conversation about best practices and stories of encouragement for church leaders and ministers. The host talks to leaders in a variety of fields to get a sense of what they see as "good" through the lens of their faith. Listeners hear ideas and ways to connect the
church and community.
Our pastor spent time talking about “What’s Good” in the life of 2BC and our community. In promoting the episode, the “What’s Good” team said: “In a world where many churches struggle to connect with their communities, Second Baptist Church in Memphis stands out as a beacon of hope and clarity. The congregation’s approach emphasizes the importance of meaningful relationships, community engagement, and a deep commitment to faith.” If you are interested in hearing the discussion, go to your preferred podcast platform and search for “What’s Good with Brian Foreman.” Second is featured in the episode called “Loving Your Neighbors with Stephen Cook.”

The Journey Class (room 220) – Jacqueline Martin, teacher
Our class will be concluding its journey through John’s Gospel. We are committed to
spotlighting the divine presence of God, which John reveals to us through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Our group will be taking a deep dive into John 19-21, the intense texts concerning Jesus's arrest and crucifixion and the narrative of his glorious resurrection.

Young Adults (room 118) – Amy Cook, Jim and Catherine Lewis, teachers
Drawing from the scripture used during Sunday morning worship, we will dig into the themes and verses using selections from Genesis. We will discuss such stories as God’s call to Abraham and Sarah to become a great nation, the promise of a child to the unsuspecting couple, Hagar and Ishmael and others.

The Forever Class (room 113) – Burt Waller, teacher
In the first half of June, we will complete our study and discussions of the "I Am" statements of Jesus as recorded in the Gospel according to John. We will continue to explore the meaning and ongoing relevance of those statements to followers of Christ in the 21st century. We will focus on:
John 14:1-14 I Am the Way
John 15: 1-8 I Am the True Vine
And as a final summary and conclusion, Revelation 1:8, 22:12-16 I Am the Alpha and
Omega
For the last two weeks of June, our class will select a few popular songs from the last 50 years that draw inspiration, lyrics, meaning, and message from the Bible. We will listen to varying performances, talk about the motivation of the songwriter, read the scripture passages that served as inspiration, and explore the meaning of the songs to contemporary listeners.
