Our salvation is graciously given by the Three-in-One God revealed to us throughout the entire story of Scripture. As followers of Jesus Christ, we have entrusted our lives to him. In doing so we received his very Spirit, who testifies with our spirit that we are indeed God’s children in Christ. How do our lives show others the family resemblance between us and our heavenly Father? At the start of Ordinary Time, take some time to reflect. Simply sit, reflect, and receive the amazing love of the Father, grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and presence of the Holy Spirit. Ask our triune God to lead you to people who also need to witness God’s amazing love for them.

To be a Christian is to bear Christ’s name — to have the Spirit of the living God rest on us and live within us. To have the Holy Spirit is to be set apart for a sacred purpose, set apart from the ways of the world. Take heart. Our Christian walk on the narrow road to eternal life may be painful at times. But the One who lives in you is greater and more powerful than anything that may happen to you. Set aside time to be still and then prayer walk in your neighborhood or even near where you work. Ask Holy Spirit for wisdom and strength to embody Christ in these places.

New Audio Sermon by Pastor Steve Schantz posted below

Dear Church Family,

When we read what the Apostle Paul teaches the church at Philippi about complaining, we are confronted with the powerful default common to our times in the American culture. (As well as our human nature.) While we read of prophets and Kings crying out to God with their needs and the needs of His people in lament, there is a vast difference between the prayers they offered up and living a lifestyle which fosters complaint as a right and privilege.

Jesus promised his followers that they would not be left alone like orphans. No, he and the Father would give the Holy Spirit to guide them into all truth. Trust that as an apprentice of Jesus, the Spirit of truth lives in you also. Trust that he will make known to you the beautiful truth that comes from the Father. Ask Holy Spirit to help you carve out even a small portion of time for silence and solitude this week. Use this time to listen for the Father’s voice. Draw strength from his presence. Ask him to correct any lies or misconceptions you might have about God or his character.

Title: Treasures Along the Romans Road — 5 unexpected lessons to help Christian grandparents Scriptures: Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23, Romans 8:1, Romans 10:9 We must get the story straight when spreading the message of salvation to young people, like our grandkids. There are certain scriptures that I believe help explain what’s so good about the “good news.” One memorable help that promotes accuracy while leaving room for natural dialogue is the Romans Road to Salvation. The Romans Road consists of five verses from the apostle Paul’s letter to the church in Rome. Let us all take a look at these Romans Road verses with a short explanation of each one in the common context of evangelism (sharing the gospel). Then, we can discuss further implications of the verses that would encourage Christian grandparents to be powerful influencers for Christ in the lives of their grandchildren. (Grandkids are not the only application, but I think it has special relevance for grandparents and grandchildren.)

Too often we are tempted to believe that we are strong enough or smart enough. We believe we can go through life on our own strength and intellect. We can easily get distracted by good things and crave more of creation than our Creator. But apart from Jesus we will find nothing of eternal value. Everything in this present world will eventually pass away. But his words will never pass away. Ask God what he wants you to let go of. What would it look like to practice simplicity and declutter your life? What would it look like to focus on what truly matters?

During his last night with his disciples Jesus gives a new commandment. He tells them to love one another as he has loved them. God shows his eternal love for us by forgiving us in Christ’s perfect life and atoning death on our behalf. If God has forgiven us of our great debt, how much more should we forgive those who sin against us? We cannot love God fully without loving others. And we cannot love others completely without loving God. Abide in God’s amazing love for you. As you abide in his love, ask God for his divine strength. In his strength, let go of bitterness and choose to practice forgiving others.
