Paul and Bridget Abbott Mission Update.
Dear family and friends,
What a blessing it was to go to Costa Rica last week and revisit our missionaries and friends in Paso Marcos. The Lord gave us some sweet time of fellowship, words of encouragement, and answers to prayer. We were invited to join the short-term mission team from Texas, made up of grandparents, parents, and college and high school students. For twenty years the leader of our team and two other members have made many trips to this ministry with various people and helped with a variety of projects. A first-time participant observed that we were not constructing a school or dental clinic like previous teams, but we were building relationships in the community. The team hosted a “Chirripó has Talent Competition” to bring the community together. Video in the link below

We saw many good changes in the community, including a growing mission team, the dental clinic offering more Cabécar Bible and literacy materials, and the expansion of foster care for Cabécar children. One example stands out. During our ten years in Costa Rica, a foster mom asked us to host her teen mom and her 1-year-old son at the mission center for a few days. The gal was extremely shy and very afraid of men. Over the past five years, three Christian women have been mentoring her, she goes to bible studies, and reads the bible in her indigenous language. Now she is 20 years old and preparing to graduate from high school. The first time we saw her on this trip, she was meeting with a group that is forming an association of indigenous people to care for at-risk Cabécar children and youth. When asked why she is a member of the association, she replied, "I know what the girls and teen moms are going through and I want to help them." She said God has changed her, and she is no longer angry since God is her father and Jesus is her savior.
Thank you for being so supportive of our different seasons of ministry. We are blessed to have you as part of our team.
Prayer requests:
Indigenous foster care association will point people to Jesus so He can rescue them
Connecting with new students at Moody Aviation
Wisdom for helping a student struggling with academics
Encourage students and couples to prepare well for the mission field
Blessings,
