Join us for our Women’s Fall Breakfast to enjoy a morning of connection and conversation about Overflowing Hope with speaker Abi Byrd.

In a world which feels hopeless, where do we find hope? At our Women’s Fall Breakfast, we will explore the overflowing hope God offers in Romans 15:13. Together, we’ll discover that biblical hope isn’t wishful thinking — it’s a confident assurance rooted in God‘s faithfulness. Our speaker Abi Byrd will open God’s word with us, revealing a hope that is limitless, life-giving, and available to all who trust in him.

Everyone needs Jesus, who came to restore our relationship with God. Our calling is to pray, to notice, to love, to listen, to share our stories, and to invite people to take a next step towards Jesus.

This Sunday, Pastor Ryan will give a special sermon on Luke 15:1–7. We’ll kick off a churchwide effort to pray for someone that God has put on our hearts, invite them to experience the life of our church family with us, and to walk the journey of faith with them.

Meet Rafa Albolote, our new Missions and Outreach Coordinator! Read a bit about Rafa below:

Rafa serves in our Mission Department as the Missions and Outreach Coordinator, supporting outreach initiatives like our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) ministry and Intro to Christianity courses. He was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, to Filipino-American/Canadian expats, and graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA with a dual degree in Business and Philosophy. He is currently pursuing a Master of Religion at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) in Washington, DC, hoping to later pursue academia.

After graduation, Rafa participated in the Fellows Initiative program at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, MD. He is currently engaged to his wonderful fiancée Charis, who is an elementary school teacher. In his free time, Rafa is an avid Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, self-described music connoisseur, and a lover of DMCs (Deep Meaningful Conversations).

Meet Alyssa Fowler, our new Nursery & Preschool Coordinator! Read a bit from Alyssa below:

I am Alyssa Fowler, your new Nursery & Preschool Coordinator! My husband Stewart and I moved here from Tuscaloosa, Alabama with our sweet pup Rolo (named after my favorite candy!) I got my degree from Iowa State University in Child, Adult, and Family Studies with an emphasis in youth programming. I have been on staff in several churches in Children’s ministry and love that I get to focus on the preschool age. I can’t wait to connect with and support families here at MPC!

While our Discipleship Hour classes are on break this August, you’re invited to come a little early to MPC — or linger a little longer!

This Sunday, Aug. 2 at 10:15am, participate in our Q&A session with Pastor Ryan and others; we’ll discuss your questions raised by our study of Genesis 33:1–20.

As part of our series The Gospel in the Life of Jacob, Pastor Ryan will preach on the topic of reconciliation and forgiveness from the life of Jacob. To a greater or lesser extent, we have all experienced the pain of ruptured relationships and faced the challenge of asking and extending forgiveness. In this Q&A, we will take your questions and share practical tips for how to seek reconciliation and forgiveness with grace, honesty, and wisdom.

After the 8:15am service, stop by our Fellowship Hour gathering (in our downstairs Grand Foyer) for refreshments before the Q&A session. Feel free to bring food and lidded beverages to enjoy in the Fellowship Hall.

Next Sunday, Aug. 9 at 10:15am, participate in our Q&A session with Pastor Ryan and others; we’ll discuss your questions raised by our study of Genesis 34:1–18, 24–31.
