Quote of the week:
"If Christians have no Divine book to turn to as the warrant of their doctrine and practice, they have no solid ground for present peace or hope, and no right to claim the attention of mankind. They are building on a quicksand, and their faith is vain. We ought to be able to say boldly, 'We are what we are, and we do what we do, because we have here a book which we believe to be the “Word of God.”'"

--J.C. Ryle, "Inspiration"

Resource of the week:
Ever feeling like you are missing joy when it comes to worship? This article/podcast might help.

We will not always brim over with delight on Sunday mornings. So, what are we to do when we find ourselves worshiping without joy?

Quote of the week:
"The gospel is not an experience that we have, much less one that we can bring about. It is an announcement that creates faith in the Redeemer who makes it. It comes to us from the outside, and the Spirit opens our hearts to receive it. It creates new experiences and inner transformation that yields good works, but the gospel itself--and the Spirit's effectual calling through that gospel--remain distinct from anything done by us or within us. The gospel is God's life-giving word, creating a new world out of nothing (Romans 4:16-17; 1 Peter 1:23, 25)."

"The Spirit of God always leads the people of God to devote themselves to the word of God."

Quote of the week:
"If you focus only on what you see right in front of you and neglect to allow God's promise of restoration to enter your vision, you won't actually be able to deal with the issues you face. They will grow out of perspective. They will come to dominate. They will drain you of hope and happiness. No--whether the problems are global, national, or personal, the best strategy is to keep your eyes on what God's word says about God's plan. There will be a happy ending. There will be a time when all things are united under a perfect King."

--Alistair Begg, "Truth For Life", p. 283

Happy Ascension Day!
Our resource of the week is a devotional podcast that focuses on the importance of the ascension of Jesus Christ. In fact, all this week on the Things Unseen podcast, Sinclair Ferguson focused on the amazing truths of the ascension and the wonderful comfort that it brings us to know that we have an ascended Savior ruling, reigning and interceding for us.

Satan, the world, and our own flesh may condemn us, but we have a Great High Priest in heaven who is interceding on our behalf. Today, Sinclair Ferguson comes to one of the most encouraging verses in the Bible.
