When life stops making sense, our natural instinct drives us to take over and rely on our own calculations. This past Sunday, we looked at Genesis 12 to see how Abram handled a severe famine. He allowed panic to dictate his decisions and created a deceptive plan to protect himself. God stepped in to rescue him anyway. God uses our painful mistakes to redirect us toward something far better. His covenant rests firmly on His perfect faithfulness and enduring grace. We put together a Sermon Cheat Sheet to help you reflect on these truths. You can read it below to guide your midweek study. Trust God enough to let go of your fears and your plans.

Parents often put so much pressure on themselves to formally teach their kids about God. But linguists tell us that a child absorbs their first language through ordinary relationship long before they understand the words. Sincere faith passes down the exact same way. Kids absorb faith by watching how the people they love respond to hardship, how they pray, and how they live out their days. It feels less like formal learning and more like breathing. Do not underestimate the power of your ordinary presence.

Many people know Eric Liddell as the Olympic champion from Chariots of Fire. But his greatest legacy happened in a Japanese civilian prison camp during World War II. While dying of an undiagnosed brain tumor, he spent his final months teaching science to kids on scraps of paper and organizing games for children who had not seen their parents in years. He never stopped tending the flame God placed inside him, even when circumstances gave him every reason to let it go out. You have the same Spirit inside of you today.

We rarely get to see the long term impact of our faithful decisions. In 1987, Pam Tebow faced impossible medical odds and was advised to terminate her pregnancy for her own safety. She refused, choosing to trust God with an outcome she could not control. She had no idea her son Tim would grow up to have a massive platform to share the Gospel. You might be planting seeds right now that you cannot see. Trust the faith you are living out today because God knows exactly what He is building.

Faithful parenting is rarely made up of dramatic, cinematic moments. Most of the time, it is the accumulation of small, unremarkable things. It is answering the hard questions in the car. It is letting your kids see you hold on to God when life is difficult instead of pretending everything is perfect. It is living your faith out in the open. You might just feel like you are trying to survive the day, but you are depositing something real into your family. Keep showing up.

Mother's Day is a beautiful celebration, but for many people, it is just a complicated phrase. If you are navigating grief, a broken relationship, a closed door, or simply the exhaustion of wondering if you are doing enough as a parent, please know there is space for you here. You do not have to put on a brave face or pretend everything is perfect. God sees the heavy things you are carrying today.

When Paul wrote to Philemon about a runaway slave who had stolen from him, he did something brilliant. He established the man's new identity before he even revealed his name. In the original Greek text, Paul holds the name until the very end of the sentence. The new creation comes first, and the old reputation follows. That is exactly how God handles your past. He makes you process who you have become in Christ before He ever reckons with what you have done. Rest in your new identity.

We constantly treat our usefulness in the church like it is still pending. We sit on the sidelines waiting for the magical moment when we finally feel completely ready and qualified to serve. But stepping back and saying you are not qualified enough or someone else could do it better is not actually humility. It is simply a refusal to trust what Christ has already said about you. He made you useful. Stop waiting to feel ready and start trusting His grace today.

When a slave named Onesimus ran away, it looked like a total disaster. But the Apostle Paul told his master that perhaps God was in this painful situation all along. We rarely see what God is doing when we are still standing in the middle of it. But what looked like pure loss turned out to be the exact setup for something that will never end. God specializes in taking our failures and turning them into an eternal gain. Trust Him with your broken seasons today.
